The Jetwing Vil Uyana Hotel, Sigiriya, nestled in what was possibly the first man-made wetland with a spectrum of water-based and forested habitats. 80 species of birds, 17 species of mammals, 36 species of butterflies and 21 amphibian species are found within the hotel premises! I'd strongly recommend spending a night or two at this property...

You could either walk, bicyle, or use golf carts, to get around the property...

A distance of approximately 140km (on highway A6) from Colombo to Dambulla takes about 4 and a half hours to cover. En route...

And it is only getting better! The landscaping that you refer to in the pics on this page has little to do with the government or people's civic sense as it has to do with private enterprise.

Thanks, mate. The journey took longer than expected because of massive traffic jams on the way out of Colombo. Also, the fact that the main highway is a mere 2-lane carriageway doesn't help very much.
