It doesnt matter if the car with the danda or sensor or hot VS model guiding you how to park is made anywhere in EU or Far east.

U r rite bro but at parking a car or judging the bumper distance I have observed, by noticing bumper scratches, that even experts fail several times.
But more than that I am worried about my car's beauty which is likely to be affected by it's installation otherwise it is a very helpful product.

okay so people here CLEARLY don't realize the use of a Parking Pole, pay a visit to Tokyo first and then you'll know how useful it is. Parallel parking a Toyota Soarer or a Honda Legend in a street in Tokyo is not like parking your car in Jinnah super or tariq road.

It's highly unlikely you'll be able to park a similar car over there without scratching your bumper. Thus the manufacturers equip the vehicle's passenger side with a parking pole to assist the driver.

Now before you say this is 'shashka' or 'Japanese people dont know how to park', think for a minute why would a manufacturer equip a car with a certain accessory if there was no need or if it was a 'shashka'. These have been around for more than a decade now. Mostly powered and only come up when the pole button is pressed from the cabin.

Do some research before posting.

I dont know why I've not seen any mercedes or bmw factory fitted with these...xulfiqar should explain this...and storm as well. Why do german cars dont come with this feature??!

^^ they come with parking sensors - and on models that dont - well any european driving license is hell.. its not like japan where drivers are more interested in driving Ipods than cars.

Back in the 80's and 90's when parking sensors weren't around, parking poles were used and yes even Mercedes equipped their cars with these or were offered as an extra accessory in Japan.

Mercedes called it the 'Parking Assist'

As a matter of fact I was in Paris last winter to visit a relative, you can't compare it to Tokyo .

The very very earliest park assist "danda" were on the mercedes benz 911 trucks - they looked like whiskers and had little lights on them too.. But still, if you try to use them while testing for a driving license - u know what happens,

The old peugoets had them too.. But they were promptly borrowed by kids who forgot to return them. The Benz hoodstar was a choice item for theft when the 126 was new, I cant even imagine how long would this stick last.. 5 minutes?

Well it lasted around 12 years on our Honda Accord Inspire until in 2004 someone tried taking it off and ended up bending it instead when my father forgot to slide it down before parking the car.

Well we can't do much about it, obviously I can't sell off my car and buy a cultus. We choose to live here, we should learn to survive.

Went to shershah and got a replacement since it was looking awful.

the parking pole or whatever its real name is, would only tell you the location of the bumper,it wont tell where ths tyre is,means if you have turned you car to full left or right,you tyres will be a little out so you have to judge by yourself,parkin pole is use less in this scenario. just try to park at some open space, why the hassle to keep the bumper just next to a car or any other obstacle..

Some car beeps in cabin if the bumper or the body comes to a situation where it is too close for comfort. It is better than the danda in front of the car.

The whole point is you don't really find open spaces in Japan or similar countries so easily you know. Do local cars come equipped with these? No, simply because they were designed for use in certain countries.
These are usually meant for cars with long front hoods and yes they were helpful back in the days when parking sensors weren't around. Edge of the bumper is more important during an attempt to parallel parking rather than the edge of the tire.

like rohaan said, these are parking aids for places like downtown tokyo or yokohama etc.... but I always disagree with them, what if there is a bollard in front and the side of the car, this pole wont to any thing because the bollard sits completely out of sight, and if you did not pay attention your car will be badly damaged.

btw bollards are used in EU a lot, there were some in Karachi but were stolen by "heroinchi" bhai loag just like they steal man hole covers. There are some cars that actually need parking aids because you cannot actually see. e.g. a large panel van, it has a mirror on its back and front, the first SAAB 900 by GM, the rear glass is very very high, so high that you absolutely cannot see anything directly behind you if it were closer than 10 ft.

The thing Is can some one tell me how to use it... I have corolla Axio 2014 Hybrid and that pole is installed but its inside how to take it out..Is there any button Or its in the Navigator LCD...
