Buying from amazon possible in Pakistan?

i am planing to import few items from amazon via shipito and i am thinking of choosing airmail economy do you know about this method ? is it reliable ? can you tell how shipito works ?

Through Airmail 20-45 days can be done and i won't take that risk because one of my package which is coming through USPS first class was never received.It was departed to pakistan on 12 December and until now i don't know where is it.

I would never trust "Airmail Economy". I had a parcel "discovered from the warehouse" after chasing it for month in December. By that time, most of the items were not required anymore (stuff for daughter's birthday party). Still I was lucky that the parcel was received in the end.

A work colleague has lost more than 5 parcels in Airmail. Only reputed parcel companies like FedEx, DHL, etc should be used. It is a risk of pay less money and "perhaps" receive the items or pay more and receive the items "guaranteed". Another big difference with reputable companies, the parcels are delivered really quick. With Airmail and local Post Office, delivering a parcel in 2-3 weeks is considered a good benchmark, as their delivery times are usually around 30+ days.

This laptop is packed in original amazon box and titled with original price so can you guys estimated the custom duty on it??

According to pakistan custom tariff list on laptop 2% applied so i think it should not more than 500 rupees.

The customs duty on computer & related accessories is 2% however there are additional duties & taxes. So for example Sales tax @20% and then Income tax @6%. Customs Duties = (Cost Price + Freight) *2% then apply 20% on total amount (Cost + freight + duty) and then apply 6% income tax on ( Cost + freight + duty+ Sales tax). The total taxes won't be less than that. I bet

Hi, why are you paying extra shipping charges to shipito in presence of your own homeland company www.PkShip.com ? PkShip's shipping charges are far far less than its peers in US an delivery time is 3-8 days. I have experienced them personally and they are doing amazing job.

well i talked to their support who had very little knowledge about how their system works. well according to him you still have to pay full duty they will clear on your behalf.

If you are trying to circumvent the custom duties, this is not going to help at all. DHL, Fedex or anyone else, all are in same boat.

Just received my laptop yesterday and custom duty was 8039 rupees on $160 laptop this totally make me sad.The DHL delivery guy did not bring custom receipt and told me he forget it in his office i called to their helpline they gave me email address and said send us mail which i sent immediately but they never reply.
What you guys think they overcharged me and should i contact to someone like pak custom office or somewhere else?

$160 price of laptop, 60$ shipping and $80 custom total becomes $300 (30,000 pak rupees) and i think this price is same 30,000 in pakistan.

Even if they reduced the duty to 0%, this item is available in local market at a very reasonable price. The margin of 6-8000 is not a big deal in Pakistani market, where these items are not being imported through the right channels.

Come to think about it. If I imported 100 of these tablets and sold them to shops at a Rs 2-3000 margin, the shop keeper will also keep similar margin on the tablet if not Rs 5000.

Does that make sense ?

I always import items which are not locally available, or available at a fairly high charge. This is after knowing the fact that I am not paying any import duties in Saudi Arabia. I will give you a recent example. I imported some books from Amazon US, which are unavailable in Saudi Arabia. Similarly, my wife purchased a Frozen theme dress for my daughter from Amazon US. It was available in local market for around SAR.200 and we could buy it from Amazon for around SAR25. It made total sense to buy these items from US.

I got stuck in the same sort of situation because Amazon does not ship everything in Pakistan. I was looking for alternative ways and then finally found http:Online shopping in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Pakistan website. They have their office in USA from where they can ship any legal product to Pakistan at your door step. If you have credit card and your desired product is available on Amazon or Ali express then you don't need to go anywhere just pick up that product and place your order at Shoppingbag.pk and get it straight to your locale. But don't forget taxes and duties applied on the imported products. Everything is now possible here in Pakistan.
