Hi brother Rizwan,

I have moved from Saudi Arabia in December 2017, so I am not aware of any import tax implications on personal imports. However, until I left KSA, I had been regularly importing a lot of personal goods from US of various sizes and values, often more than a $1000.00 without attracting any import duties.

I would imagine, a quick call to DHL, Fedex, or Aramex will make it clearer.

every package / parcel over 45 grams in weight goes to the Pakistan Customs desk at post office for inspection & clearance for delivery to consignee. shipping handling value + item value exceeding US$ 10 the package is subject to detainment and clearance upon payment of Govt taxes as applicable.

No matter where it is shipped from., exercise caution while doing online shopping.

I dont agree with your statement. GCC region has implemented 10% Value Added Tax (or VAT) beginning from 1st January 2018. However, that is not "Duty Tax".

KSA am not sure how their regime work upon taxes but in GCC specially UAE & OMAN
every consignment landing in UAE is subject to 5% DUTY upon clearance

adjustable in mandatory 10% VAT ( means IMPORTER add only 5% VAT upon sale to distributor ) - which again is refundable upon proof of export within 90 days.

It is choice of Distributor how to marginalise & transfer or not to transfer 5% benefit and charge blanket 10% VAT for onward sale.

You are comparing commercial imports with personal imports. This thread is about buying from Amazon.
However, your statement is true for commercial imports.

some people living in YANBU, KSA & in Salala Oman, regularly order 4x4 after market stuff from Austrailia ( specially for LC Pickup Truck Variant) & US, as individuals -

they are now charged with the newly imposed tax but no import duty - They can claim adjustment of that 5% VAT in their audits for which they are Local Business partners in LLC with expats.
