Jaecoo and Omoda are Chery products. Nishat has brought them in Pakistan. Globally Omoda E5 is priced lower than the Atto base variant with 49 kWh battery pack. I think this is the reason they are able to price it same as Atto's base model (49 kWh).

Omoda E5 uses the same BYD blade battery that the top model of Atto has (61 kWh). Atto uses ground up EV platform. Omoda E5 is built on ICE platform hence the interior is not as spacious as Atto specially the rear seats and trunk.

Personally I like the exterior and interior design, features, and long range due to bigger battery pack. This will definitely give tough competition to Atto.

The only advice I would give is to check its service schedule before buying. Mega has agreed to follow the global service schedule now which is once a year or 20,000 km whichever comes first. Previously they were calling us after 3 months/5,000 km. We as a BYD WhatsApp community fought back consistently and after long discussions, Alhamdulilah finally they listened to their customers. But it was a difficult effort. It's not easy to convince a company in Pakistan.

Another point I would like to highlight is do a test drive because Electric Viking YouTube channel tested it I think 1 year back. His major complain was unpredictable Regen braking at low speeds which according to him is almost unuseable. Do check the brakes and see how it feels.

First rule of business get a good or appealing name. Right now it sounds absurd.. doesn’t give a good impression.

The shape of Omoda E5 is also extremely awkward from the back.

Byd is still going to take most sales as it’s a recognized brand name.

Only 50-60km range, maybe 100 in ideal conditions is added in the Omoda as compared to Atto 3.

And being an HS PHEV owner, coming from other hybrids, i can see the reviewers frustration. He's totally right in suggesting to not buy it. The MG as well lacks regen and that takes away from the driving experience greatly, as well as wearing the mechanical brakes. There's no point of an electric/ plug in/ hybrid if it can't use that lost braking energy in regen, period.

I think the concerning point he mentioned is Regen at slow speeds is extremely jerky that caused nausea in his case. Listen from 8:40 onwards in the video where summarizes the pros and cons

Yes brother certainly 10x better than Jaecoo or Omoda or Tiggo (Chery seems to have a pattern of terrible names).

Bad for a market like Pak where optics and shashkas matter quite a lot.

My prediction is that these weird names are gonna go the Tiggo way. Just like almost nobody goes to Lu** university from Pakistan.

Imagine a conversation going like… “What car did you buy? A Jaecoo”.

I feel like Omoda is bearable though.

Nishat should’ve rebranded these cars imo. It’s not like they’re globally known names like Haval, MG and BYD are.

Thankfully, BYD decided to use the Denza brand for Fangchengbao. Yangwang will still be called Yangwang apparently ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No, Fang Cheng Bao or Fangchengbao and Denza are not the same.
Fang Cheng Bao is focused on off-road vehicles, while Denza is a luxury brand. Some Fang Cheng Bao models are being rebadged and sold under the Denza brand in international markets. For example, the Fang Cheng Bao Bao 5 is sold as the Denza B5 in Australia. It's no guarantee all markets will get Denza name

BYD had announced that Fangchengbao would be sold under the Denza marque for most export markets including Australia and Europe.

can anyone confirm how much does atto3 cost with all the taxes and how much is the registration charges for Islamabad? also from reading the thread, it seems that charger is being sold separately for 3.5 lac so total cost would be around 10M?
and if we don't have solar at home and use a 3 phase meter then is it going to cost more than the petrol car?

Current deliveries are still getting 7 kW chargers along with 2 kW charger but they keep saying there's no guarantee when 7 kW charger could stop. If you don't get a 7 kW charger, you don't need to buy a charger from BYD. You can import from AliExpress under 1 lac. If you are a low mileage driver, 2 kW charger can work for you as well.

Registration cost in Islamabad is between 280,000~290,000. Keep in mind 270,000 is the advance tax and 10,000 is the income tax. Both of these taxes could be adjusted in your tax file returns. If you are a salaried person, you could get it adjusted from your employer. The rest of the remaining amount is minimal, around 10,000.

If you don't have solar but still want to own an EV, I highly recommend you install a separate single phase meter for EV charging only. You will save around 40~50% when compared to fuel costs.

Yes if you use commercial/public chargers, that is true, gonna cost more. I don't see electricity price coming down anytime soon. Need solar at home for sure.

@iFadey mentions a separate single phase meter may work too, but I'm not sure if it's going to work for long route driving, only within city maybe.

If one wants to purchase the byd atto3 or similar model in the near future, is it better to wait for ckd model after approx 1 year so possibly the price may be cheaper? Or possibly have a smaller model released like byd dolphin? Or is it better to purchase at the current byd atto3 price?
