I wish u luck with planning and executing this ambitious adventure.

Keep in mind the rest breaks, meal breaks, weather conditions, road blocks, landslides, traffic jams, road construction etc.

I think this plan is too much hectic and should be done in 2 trips at minimum. But if u are willing to do it in one go then may Allah Almighty be with u and your team will require mental stamina as well to go through all 2500km.

In my personal opinion, this trip is of atleast 16-18 days. I have mentioned few comments in red.

Ground reality is different on day 2 so far as timing is concerned. You need 3-4 hours to reach Babusar Top from Saif-ul-Muluk Lake. Another 2.5-3 hours till Chilas. Then 1.5 hours till Raikot and 1 hour till Jaal. And all this is without any stays or meal breaks. Then atleast 3-4 hours of very tough trekking and that too after such a long day.

Better enjoy your ride till Chilas by staying at Lalazaar, Lulusar Lake and Babusar Top. Then start next day for Fairy Meadows.

This is not possible in one day. You need 3 hours to come down to Raikot. Another 4-5 hours till Astore. Then a round trip of Rama Lake will take atleast 3-4 hours from Astore to Astore. This ends your day as u cannot travel more than 12 hours a day.

We did Astore to Skardu in 9 hours with small stops at Sheosar Lake, mid of Deosai and Bara Pani. So that is a full day in itself. No lunch breaks in between.

Sost to Khunjrab is around 2.5 to 3 hours. If u stay there only 1 hour then your round trip will be of around 7-8 hours. Then it will take 3-4 hours to load unload the bikes or luggage and then passing the lake and reaching Karimabad. Your timing will be efficient if u can reach Karimabad by sunset. Gilgit can only be reached through extended night travel which is highly not recommended.

do tell about actual time required from "ISL to Naran" , "Chilas to Gilgit" , "Gilgit to Attabad"

Islamabad to Naran depends when u leave from Isl. If u start around 3-4 a.m. then u will pass the Hassanabdal - Abbottabad section around 6 a.m. which is best time. Lots of bad traffic in daytime on this patch plus it will be very hot in summer between Isl and Abbottabad. So, u will avoid heat and traffic and will reach Balakot in 4 hours.

Then take breakfast in Balakot and carry on to Shogran which will take around 1.5 hours. Stay there for some time and continue to Naran. Shogran to Naran is 3-4 hours depending on traffic in daytime. Add another 1 hour for Saif-ul-Muluk Lake. In total u will need 11-12 hours to complete this journey.

Chilas to Gilgit is the worst patch of road these days with construction work going on. In daytime, it will be torture for bikers with heat and dust in air. Normally, it takes around 3.5-4 hours but keep it around 6-7 hours between Chilas to Gilgit.

Gilgit to Atabad has improved due to newly constructed road after Gilgit. If u go straight to Atababad Lake then u can reach there in 4 hours. It will take around same time even if u start from Naltar.

Their rent is fixed for a round trip and i think it is around 5-6K these days. Its up to you whether u take the jeep or not. Pay the money and travel on bikes yourself. It is like entry fees.

well u have gt some good input form mobeen and it is only now that i have taken a look at ur actual plan so will give u my input as well

Day 1 is too ambitious i think....

on bikes u shud reach naran direct (minus shogran). i think u can plan it like this that
day 1 :

islamabad to Naran+saifulmalook+baisal (nite camp).

day 2 :
Babusar top to chilas to raikot and trek to FM which is abt 45 mins jeep track and 4 hrs trekking so ull have to leave at fajar times on all dayz....

day 3:

FM to riakot bridge (late start) to astore (it will be magrib time when u raech astore i gues)

Day4:

astore to rama to rama lake astore-deosai till bara pani and night at bara pani......

day 5:

barapani to skardu - shangrila and u can reach gilgit at late night also....

day 6:

gilgit to Naltar and back and leave for Hunza. u can camp at minapin ...

day7:

minapin to khunjrab pass and back to karimabad and night stay.....

day 8:

hujza to gilgit -ghizer to handrap and night camp at handrap.....

day 9:

handrap to chitral -kailahs (u can c at least 1 valley)

day 10 kailash to islamabad

even my plan is hectic but ur dayz are very less for such a involved trip. i think u shud have 15 dayz for this . 1 rest day in btwn and some relaxd travelling......

Bhai, our 2 travel gurus (mobeen bhai aur asif bhai) have guided u very well. Inki sab batain giraah se baandh lein aap. Then ur trip will be excellent, i'm damn sure.

Day 5 almost impossible... (Dont measure in distances/kph). Keep in view, the road conditions, mountainous terrain. The avg speed will be around 30km. keep in view sightseeing breaks, meal, refreshment breaks.

Mileage for CG125 will be almost 30/Litr.

Reserve day 2 for exploring naran and lake saif ul malook. According your plan you will reach lake at sunset time and have to leave at sunrise... so no benifit for so much kasht...

Naraan to Chilas.. it will take 6-8 hours...

Chilas Raikot bhi aik ghanta lag jata ha...

Raikot FM jeep one hour. and 2 hour for trekking.

FM to Rama (one day)
next day Rama to Bara Pani (camp there)
next day Bara pani to skardu.

Chitral to isb in one day is also v v hective. coaster is taking 12-14 hours for this journey...

Keep 2000 per day estimate. inclusive of fuel, food and residence.

1- a big noooo at least from saiful malook to naran is dead slow. but u can acclerate from naran to jalkhad at more than 40 easily road is great...

than its dirt track u can go at 30 km/hr. i think from saiful malook to chilas u will need 6 hrs....

Dost, when u travel in North then forget about kilometers and speed maintenance in km/hr. It is all about how much time u need to reach the next destination. The terrain changes a lot and majorly towards slower side. You cannot move long enough on same speed as some sharp turn will come or glaciers, water, potholes, cattle traffic, bad patches or no road at all etc. etc. Then there are unexpected traffic jams due to landslides, road maintenance, heavy water streams/nallahs etc. Finally, its very important whether u r going uphill or downhill. So, these factors totally disturb your homework on distance and speed calculations.

Most important factor is how much TIME u need to get to the destinations based on actual experiences of people which they are sharing with you.

From Naran to Chilas u will go from 7500 ft (Naran) to 13700 ft (Babusar) to around 4100 ft (Chilas).

Road is only good between Naran and Jalkhad. After that its rough path / dirt track / glacier crossings till Babusar Top. Then again on other side of Babusar is very bad gravel spread dirt track. Only last part of the road is good just before Chilas which is newly made. Last year landslides added another 1 hour to the route to Chilas and i am not sure whether that has been fixed or not yet.

We don't have much idea about real timings, so this plan was mostly based on Km/h calculations. :)Main point is to enjoy, not just covering the distance all day long. After so many replies, it seems like it would be better to do "FM to Astore to Rama Lake" on Day 5. Rest of the journey to Skardu will take another day with some nice stops at Sheosar, Kala Pani, Bara Pani, Deosai and Sadpara lake.

Mileage for CG125 will be almost 30/Litr.

I agree, first 2 days ,it seems better to plan till Saifulmalook only.

Hehe, no tension about this patch. what i am confused about is making the trip timings right. While coming back, one can simply ride as long as he can.
