Lol! Whoever told you that the Camry we get in Pakistan is Japanese assembled was quite wrong. All of our 'Official' Toyotas and Hondas are Thai imports, don't believe me, pop the hood and see for yourself

Furthermore, there's nothing wrong with the Thailand quality of assembly, its almost as good as the Japanese any day.

FSX and everybody who loves camry, only a 3.0ltr v6???

The All new 2008 honda accord betters it with an awesome 3.5ltr v6(VCM) DBW engine, having 280bhp.

more so, the 2005 accord's 3ltr engine(V6) had 235bhp.

CAMRY BEND OVER, and Be prepared to be rear ended to be pushed forward to stay in the running to atleast try and beat the accord.

generally the perception in our minds is such that when ever most people think about camry, a word "Taxi" comes to our mind.

I am only defending the point that CAMRY is not just a BULKY UNDERPOWERED FAMILY SALOON, but it can eat any Honda Accord of its time in stock setups.

If you did not understand what I said let me explain in simple English .
Accord Auto transmision has gera option of D,D3,2,1
Camry Auto transmission has option of I think D,D3,2 but not 1
so you have to rely on brakes when coming down hill and this can be dangerous.

First of all thanks for your response. My budget is 3 million. I am looking for car made for local market is because of warranty, lower cost and availability of spare parts.

Accord's engine is i-vtec(valve lift) compare to camry's vvti(vvti-l is equal to i-vtec). Accord has DBW(drive by wire) and VSA(Vehicle Stability Assist), Rear corner sensor, Remote windows.

Camry has Moon Roof, Auto head light levelling, cleaning & on/off, MP3 CD capable, 2 Air bags (more than accord), Rear A/C controls, 1 cu/ft more boot space.

@omarnasim: That actually is not 1st gear rather, they are called overdrive, in which forward gears are changed on much higher RPMs so to get more controls and power from same gears in higher RPMs

Guys.. Thai accord is a purpose built vehicle meant to be exported to austrailia, newzealand,singapore, philipines, malaysia and Pakistan. Not only Honda but also other manufacturers including toyota manufacture there vehicles in thailand for export purposes. Thailand has probably the largest engine manufacturing facility in the world of both Honda and Toyota motors outside Japan and USA .

So stop questioning the quality of thai built vehicles. Further Salman i also own a thai accord for the last 2 years and believe me it is of excellent quality and drive and nothing rattles at all infact my uncle who bought a camry in July this year also admits that accord has a superior drive and grip and is a point ahead in terms of luxury.

Now coming to camry, yes the new camry's shape is more impressive than an accord. But this doesnt mean that accord is a low quality car infact it is far more superior in terms of drive, consumption, luxury (compare it yourself), and above all engine which is an i-vtec whereas camry is a simple vvti 2az-fe...yes it is not a vvti-L in Pakistan...

Coming to the quality of japanese assembled cars it is for sure outstanding BUT
It depends on one's experiences coz my uncle's new white camry has a transmission problem( too stiff at times have to use both hands to move it he has lodged for the whole car replacement at toyota indus)..though it is a japanese assembled car...i had a 2004 model camry (Jap assembled) it had faulty discs (brake) installed from japan..so i think its about time we come out of the fallacy that japanese are defect free vehicles..yes mostly they are but so in the case of other foreign manufactured cars as well.after all these r machines.

And yes this current accord has a 3.0 v6 variant with a moonroof as well.
i mean no offence to any one just wanted to clear certain points:))

i think you should list out your criteria for buying the car... then on the basis of those you decide just to mention resale, consumption, parts, drive, comfort etc etc...
i would say go for a camry coz its new whereas accord will be replaced with a new one next year...

Thai may export to many different countries, but as far as Accords and Camry are concerned, the biggest market for them is here in the US. They sell about 400k units of each car a year (Camry sells a bit more than Accords here---I believe they sell more Accords and Camry in the US alone than all the countries you have mentioned combined). If the US built Camry quality is not up to par with the Japanese, I wouldn't expect Thai quality to be any better.

My family bought 85 Accord, then 88 Accord, 89 Civic, 97 Civic, 97 Accord, and 2002 Civic. they all rattled. So please don't tell me that your car does not.

Accords don't have the kind of insulation material thats used in Camry. Thats why you will find Camry to have much less road noise than the Accord. Honda cuts corners on price everywhere.

I do want to add a few bad words for Camry though. My 2.4L I4 Camry with 158 hp is very underpowered. I think the newly released Accord with 177hp (or 190hp for EX) will be somewhat better. Also I don't like the way the Camry transmission works. It never wants to downshift when you want it to---always too late, thereby making it hard to perform "overtakes" in tight situations. The stereo systems is mediocre at best. I think Hondas come with better sound systems (I am talking about non-Paki Hondas).

Since who in the world told you that, Lancers, Accords are Thai Imports? I've bougth em and the shipping papers and custom papers mention Japan everywhere, even the seaports.

Even if it were assembled in Thailand, why would they ship it to Japan and then back to Pakistan? I don't get you!

As for Camry vs Accord here, its an evergoing topic. But the base fact is: Camry has always been the No 1 in America and it always will. As for those who chose Euro Accord of new Camry, they're hopeless cases (If money is not an issue)
