The only reason i paid them was to avoid going to the police station. We asked them to talk to our parents on call.
And just assume for a moment. Would the policemen hesitate in lying on the phone? Just for the sake of revenge. For not getting bucks out of us.
It was already a hectic day. And didn't want it to get more worse.

I also faced a situation where the police caught me using "illegal ammunition" which was licensed on my brother's name and they locked me up ....... i ended up paying 5000 to get outta there as I found out there that if police catches you with any ammunition which is not licensed to your name (no matter if it is of any relative's or not) it would be considered as carrying illegal ammunition and the police also threatened me with what not of the consequences , hence i had no choice but to pay them and get the F out.

so I kinda feel what you would have felt at that moment.

If you don't want western system then the parents need to be more mindful with no hypocrisy and with no confusion on their minds. Problem is the two generations are not aligned and are on the different state of minds. Parents still giving an illusion of being one of the most pious families on earth and the children have no limits to what they are doing. If the parents are no friendly that creates a huge gap between them and the children. Parents should give comfort to their children and then accept their choices and not show to the world a different side of them while practicing something different.

this sort of behavior makes me laugh. in Pakistan, whatever you say / do the next person will go to further extent in saying i did it better / more than you.

That's the hypocrisy I am talking about. We act like the most pious people and but secretly we enjoy a different world. We find the best ways to hide our secret life even from the parents depending on how intelligent a person is. If you know someone who is infamous for such activities then that's not the only bad person its just that they are not intelligent and wise enough to hide it from people. So the stupid get infamous while the intelligent and wise maintain a pious image. We don't want people to talk about what's wrong with us, we just want to portray a good image without resolving the root issues. But that's not how things work and the bubble of that fake image doesn't last long and gets burst and then are left with that fake ego and fake image.

Let me list down some of the common hypocrisy, since this thread gives an opportunity, when you are looking for a girl to marry:

1. Parents don't give picture of their daughters and would rather prefer to come see their daughter at their home, which wastes time, energy and cause humiliation at both ends and while you can still find the pictures of girl online. And then they say "larke wale aate hain kha peekar chale jaate hain" and girls brags about how she is a show piece.
2. Parents wouldn't show their daughters to the guy (rare but its still there), the girl studied with the men, works with the men with constant interaction and parents act like no man has seen their daughter? fooling themselves or others? cheap minds doing cheap things.
3. When someone sends a picture they would send picture all covered up in hijab and all (again trying to portray a pious image) and then you can find pictures of girl without hijab on her facebook.

All above are based on personal experience. And I would emphasize that hijab is not guarantee of any girl's character; a girl wearing no hijab doesn't necessarily is loose character. Mostly its misused to portray an image and hide identity, you can find many going on dates wearing hijab. Not saying hijab is bad or girls wearing hijab are bad, all I am saying is that its not a marker of someone's character rather just their personal way carrying herself. I am sorry if this may offend anyone.

This is a classic case of police extorting general people.

Even if they are gf/bf, they have the right to eat their burger in peace in a car parked next to a park.

What if they were just class fellows, cousins or colleagues. Can't they be in car together.

This boils my blood because my friend was extorted by Islamabad police few years back while he was travelling to Murree to attend a conference/seminar with a female colleague in a company car that the company driver was driving.

That's our problem. We are so much adjusted with the problems that now we feel happy to have problems to live an adventurous life so we can gossip later. Nobody wants to realize where the issues lies, and first thing in solving problems is to realize what they are. We are ignoring problems and have made a mind "ke jaisa chal raha hai chalne do". Our parents' generation is confused which causing us problems and now we would handover the same to next generation.
