"and i wont be surprised at all if Buick(GM) comes out with a Chinese owner"
"I have already speculated this a few times in more than one thread here. Look it up."
i am glad we agree on this. i also do agree with you on the safety aspect of these cars. i never said you well see these pure chinese brands on the streets tomorrow in US. its gonna be a long journey, but what i am suggesting is there is a market for these cars in the underdeveloped countries which they can exploit to their benefit for now and can grow to a level financially so sound that can independently operate im markets like US and Europe in abt two to three years time. BTW this is the same market TATA wants to capture as well.
this is all marketing and going by your example this is what VW and GM did in China. There was an economic boom, people could afford better cars and there was a market for VW and GM to exploit and they did. but these cars are maid in China by companies owned in part by American's and if you call these American cars then going by the same logic cars being made in America by companies owned in part or possibly even full by Chinese should be called Chinese, dont you think so? whats in a badge you might even see Chevy renamed as Geely or something later down the line. Major companies with the potential to invest in US and European markets right now include FAW, DMC and SAIC.
whereas companies like Geely have already started thier operations in Asia, Europe, and South America. They paln to launch in North America this year. so that is what i meant "by sooner than you think". will they be successful in US right now? i dont think so, but later down the line definitely!
i think the my chinese fellows on this thread would agree. Anyone?
