I am assuming you are aware of the fact that UC is two levels abbrassive than swirlx (which works good enough in softer paints e.g. I have heard it works good on civic but not too well in corolla or jdms). From their consumer line following is the order of abbrassiveness (high to low)
Ultimate Compound > scratch x 2.0 > swirlx > scratch x > ultimate polish
Working ult compound by hand requires some expertise, needs to be worked into for its smat abbrassive broken down enough and in some cases (if not worked out too well) would need a finishing polish like ultimate polish for a smoother surface... if i recall correctly , google for ultimate compound by hand and youd see a few scary hand jobs due to wrong hand pressure and product drying out quickly causing scratches etc, one on autogeek involving several answers by Mike Phillips.
Not to discourage you in anyway but read enough on how to do it and try it on a smaller test panel before going big.
If the swirls are being too much of a visual disturbance, you can look into using a glaze as that has filling properties to fill out the swirls and mask them temporarily. a 16oz bottle (e.g. mothers step 2 available locally at around 1k) can give you atleast 16 applications , may be once every month. Glaze will also bring the best of visual appearance (although very less lasting) and if a sealant is applied on top it also reduces the sealant bonding to paint surface.
Disclaimer : this response is again based on theoretical knowledge and more of an FYI than howto.
