@xsxd...the pros on this thread will really be able to advise you once you post the pictures of the car and the condition of the paint.
I am no expert but what I have gathered through this thread and some great advice from some very helpful members i can share with you...
- Use a good Shampoo and properly wash your car...dry it
since it's an old car (by the color I am assuming that it is a couple of years old atleast or unless it's the 2000 civic) use a clay bar to smoothen the paint and get rid of all the invisible grime and particles which have now become part of the paint surface over the years...basically you have to prepare the surface for the polish. Search on youtube using how to use Clay bar on car and you will get a host of videos showing you how its done.
Apply a nice glaze to bring out that glossy look
- Apply a good wax (use Turtle Ice or Mother's or Meg's - do not use the chinese dibbi wala stuff such as Formula 21, Kosmic etc etc as they are oil based waxes, they will bring out the shine but will leave smudges once anyone touches it...trust me i am suffering using soft 99)...scan through the pages here and you will get to know which brands to go in which category. Again you can either read through here on how to wax (do not trust the pump walas) or check out youtube.
- Apply a good detailer or a wax enhancer
REMEMBER: USE MICRO FIBRE CLOTH ONLY...a fresh one (clean one) for every stage.
I have skipped one step, which will most probably be essential for your car and that is Swirl or Scratch removing...never done it and never seen anyone doing it myself so I will let the pros advise you on that.
Last of all, make this a regular regime because the true rejuvenation will happen over a period of time once you start doing this process regularly.
Go through the pages of this thread bro, there is tons of stuff here and perhaps an answer to any and all your questions...from brands to techniques to paint sciences everything is here...
Hope this can help you start...
