Okay Just a quick note on detailers:
there are many types of detailers...which one to go for or which to use when...depends on totally what you want to use it for...I for one...keep multiple detailers for multiple jobs...
Cleaning Detailers: These are detailers, that you would want to use for...
a. Helping take off wax
b. Dust wiping or mid week or even daily regular cleaning...
for this you need something which is affordable and is highly diluted...why because you want that dust to be handled with ease (low pressure wipes required), you do not want to overfeed your previous coats and ofcourse you want to neutralize the charge in your previous wax coat...you dont want more dust being attracted.
Wax alternate detailers/special day detailers
These are detailers which have higher content of wax and less diluted...these are detailers which you use to give that just waxed look when you don't have the time to wax or you plan on extending your main detail by a few days...however, they are not recommended for regular cleaning/wiping purposes and ideally as per my experience require a clean surface (dust free) before spreading them on the surface...
Sealant Detailers
Now most of you might not have heard of these...yup these are pretty much like wax alternate detailers (like megs ultimate quick detailer) but instead of wax they are diluted sealants...so they work like detailers but also as a sealant top coat...expect shine but limited depth...
Detailers can also fall into two other categories:
Synthetic detailers
such as turtle platinum, ice, megs nxt etc...support shine but less on depth...sealant detailers fall in this category
Natural detailers
such as Megs ultimate, even armor all, enhance the shine of the previous coat and provide some depth...
Always a good idea to combo a synthetic polish with a natural detailer and a natural polish with a synthetic detailer....should be taken as a general rule of thumb but not as a definite guideline as I do know of a few non OTC synthetics which ask specifically to be followed up with a sealant detailer.
Spray Waxes
These should not be confused with detailers...although they look like detailers, they come in packaging like detailers but they are not...they are simply quick wax applications and require the same surface prep as that of a regular wax. Again if you have the time to wash but not enough to work with a regular wax...they can be used as an alternative for a special day...life is not as much as of a regular wax but is still longer than any detailer and after using this...you will still need a detailer the next day...
