you are very right its finishing compound but u said u have deep secratches and by this compound secratches reduces but still some are there, means u need first rubbing compound than this polishing compound and than natural wax for ultimate results
no doubt compounds and polishing things gives best results by rotery polishers as its genrate proper heat, same uniform presure on every pannel at certain speed so final results comes far better than hand applications, well experts like v1 they even bring same results by hands 
, i strongly recommend do such compound and polishing process by v1 with rotery during ur next visit to lahore or u can cordinate with islo members like jugnu bhai , zadhi bhai as they are experince in such things but one thing is confirm as a last step u must need natural wax
