Ok so I'm reading this thread and it has some useful info, and from what I understand from the replies car imports are not allowed on commercial basis so thus thee gift scheme and change of residence rules etc exist? And thus there is really no "exemption" as such or benefit of importing as a foreign resident, it jut that it the only way to import and all import shops use thee schemes? Am I correct in my understanding.
So I looked at the link here http://www.fbr.gov.pk/Docs/20114191244029273Importofvehicles2010.pdf
And from what I understand the special scheme basically only applie to Japanese cars, and the normal scheme applies to all other cars including European. Is this correct?
Lastly, if I want to import an 1800 cc European car I am not eligible for the special scheme then and have to pay taxes prescribed in normal scheme?
Lastly, if I live in US, am I only allowed to Import a car from the us, or can I go to london, buy the car and export it to Pakistan immediately? Lhd and rhd issues.
Or can I only import a car from where I am resident? Would appreciate any help on this.
Thanks.
