Assalam-u-Alaikum

My car (Corolla Altis 2012 Automatic) got stolen from the street just in front of my house in I-8/3 Islamabad yesterday. I came back from Maghrib Prayers and found 3 people standing a few yards away from my house. They looked suspicious. I went upstairs completed my balance Namaz and came down after 10 minutes and the car was gone. Called tracker company eDrive as well as Rescue 15. eDrive people told me that they are unable to see the car on their system. Within next 5 minutes or so eDrive called again and asked me to rush to street 91 in I-8/4 (a few streets before I-J principal road). I went there and found the car in this condition:

I am thankful to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala that I got it back.

Any idea about these points:

- Is there any way to secure these cars? eDrive says they want to sell me Anti-Jammer device for Rs.4,000/= which switches on the Horn if a jamming device is used. Anyone knows if that is really useful?

- I have not installed the regular security system. Is that also helpful?

- Any other physical way to secure the car. A lock (Tala!) under the steering is very inconvenient and impractical.

- Any idea why were they going to I.J Principal road if the possible destination was Peshawar?

Any immobiliser / security not programmed to ECU properly is just an added wire loom and when removed car return to normal mode of operation hence become worthless.

Secondary battery is used in many cars security systems i guess, i had a SAAB 95 in the past, it started to have a problem kicking the alarm late at night in freezing weather and problem located to hidden secondary alarm battery wasnt charged enough and system activated sensing tempering. replacement sorted the issue!

Alhamdulliah you got you car back. I am sure you have given some sadaqa but unfortunately pakwheels haven't been very helpful. This is a big issue with corlla cars been stolen, we can insure the car put tracker in and have chor switch but thieves still steal our cars. An ideal solution is to gave a factory fitted imobilser but chor some reason unknown toyota don't fit one? I am ready to pay for it and am sure everyone is I don't see why we can have this as an extra option? Anyway it seems that there are very limited ways to protect our cars except by way of dealing the theif by time by use of steering lock etc..

After market immobilizers r not effective one can easily by pass them by just connecting a single wire loop. Factory fitted immobilizer unit embedded in Engine ECU can provide a real tough time to car thief.
the only solution is to sell it & by civic with immobilizer

STOP BUYING FROM TOYOTA INDUS, these buggers cant fix a simple immobilizer in 2013. There is a severe need of boycott of any of the corolla models. I guilty of buying from them twice. The dealerships, police and dacoits are accomplices here. Security protocols of this piece of **** are not better than camel tied to a tree or a sohrab cycle lock

BOYCOTT IMC, Telenor has done that after losing 15 cars, its time everyone else does the same

when I have to leave car at some place where I am not very comfortable to leave it un attended ... i take the distributer wires with my self and remove them when no body is noticing me.... or act just like I am topping up the radiator.

One of my friends has told me that his electrician installs a Chor Switch that is connected with the Fuel Pump. The wiring is not connected to the wires under the steering and can not be detected. You will have to push the button each time you start the car.

Anyone has any comment on this option?

Sir Factory fitted Immobilizer is very effective & there is no way to by pass it, to start the Car thief needs to connect another ECU or needs to reread the imbobilizer EEPROM which consumes loads of time + proper equipment. thats y i dont like PKDM cars

Like it or not, this is the only trick which car thieves can't crack and don't have an answer to. It may be impractical or inconvenient as you have put it, but car thieves can't crack it. I know a couple of incidents where owners were saved by this security measure alone when everything else had failed. Go for a good steel padlock if you can't find an Abloy brand.

bro the tala under the sterring is the best. secondly there is one more lock available in market which u can keep on top of ur dashboard and it locks the movement of your steering. it is very easy to operate. I u want to see I can send u the pics. but for the time being use that china or unity lock under the sterring. I am using this lock on gli.
