One of my mate had an incident of car snatched on gun point, just 3-4 days after his 3 year insurance plan ended, who could have this precise information other than the insurance company ..... So this appear true that people from tracker/insurance companies are involved.

It says it all.. people, please turn to reality now! I even now suspect, after listening to too many new GLI thefts, that its the parent company doing it all !

i think the best way is to keep a dog,when you park your car in the Market you can leave the dog inside the car.I am pretty much into dogs after readint the comments about having a watch dog and in 1990's we had a watch dog.

Your dog (or a baby if left in a parked car) can die in a matter of minutes. It is a serious offense in Canada to leave your dog in the parked car or a baby (even for one minute) Anyone can call 911 and report it and the driver is in trouble. You may not be hit by the law in Pakistan but your dog can still suffer while protecting your property.

I have an idea to locate the stolen car. What if we place a mobile phone hidden and fixed in side the dash, give permanant power supply to it from the car battery (12 v to 5 v adapter), the mobile should be silent and screen light off. The car can be located by calling on that number and getting the location from mobile company. I am sure if the sim is registered in your name they will tell you the general location of your sim through mobile towers. This method can only fail if the car is out of mobile company coverage area like tribal areas.

More advanced system would be feeding the speaker signal to a relay which shuts off the engine. comments please.

Well no offence but in Pk most of us go for groceries at night and we can leave the glass opened a little bit,We have to look for something in order to save our cars we simply don't have the option of not buying them as travelling in the Public is an hactic IN PK,and who ever is running the GOVT no matter PPP or some dictator they are not serious abot solving any kind of issues,i mena liek look at the Kashmir Situation,before going for in for a Meeting in INDIA the officals say don't expect anything from the Meeting than what the hack are you going there for,to taste their food while you borrow the money from IMF and than Borrows it again to pay them.

to add make it your SOP that as most of us remain awake till late night , after regular intervals keep pressing your car alarm button like press the lock key so that car sounds out there , it will make u sure that car is there, 2ndly a potential thief will run away as if someone is coming now towards the car

I guess you can leave the dog in the car with a window open at night. However what is to stop someone from aiming a gun at you and demanding the keys? or follow you...point being you cannot leave the dog in the car 24/7 (in which case not just the thieves but you too would not want to be in that car.) How long are we going to find adhoc solutions for our problems? load shedding...do not pressure the government into finding a permanent solution but find temp. solutions like invertors, UPS's, natural gas generators...
no water in the taps....drill deeper tube wells (resulting in even lower water table), call a water tanker, instead of demanding that new developments only approved if the infrastructure can support them. Anyway we have to remember 'Khuda ney aaj tuk us qoum ki halat nahi badli....

Boycott purchase of cars that are so easy to steal. The technology to make them harder to steal exists..just that the manufacturer needs to be pushed to provide it...Remember Indus motors is not doing you a favour by selling you these cars..YOU are doing them a favour by buying their product and keeping them in business.

yes - but for installation you have a couple of choices

learn to fiddle with electricals of a car
OR
find someone who knows what hes doing and remove the no.plate when taking it to have it installed - dont trust anyone

Yesterday morning, my cousin's almost new gli got stolen for his own garage. The garage was properly locked and the car had steering lock and tracker installed. The thieves (3 or 4 assumptions) jumped in from garage's gate. They entered the car by breaking the rear window and chopped the steering lock then the gate lock.

At 6:30 am, the tracker company called saying that ur car is crossing Sagian Pull so they have turned off the car. In shock he checked the garage for his car then called 1 5 and motorway police. After half an hour the tracker company called saying that they have stopped receiving signals from ur car.

The thing is, my cousin's mother was awake that time but she did not hear a sound. How were the thieves able to bypass the tracker? If tracker is so easily bypassed then whats the use of tracker? One thing to note that he has two more cars (alto and cultus) with alarm systems, did thieves aim for big car or car without alarm system?

This means that how much so ever you try to protect your car with tracker, steering lock, your car is not safe, even inside your own house.

The worst part was only the 50% of the car was insured that mean he would get only 8 lacs back.

I am a bit worried because i also have the new model corolla with tracker and fully insured. I would really like if someone could give me suggestion regarding his big loss, like this type of event ever happened before and was the car recovered. Please if someone can help or give information regarding this type of event please don't hesitate. Is there any chances of his car being recovered and who should he contact?

sir first of all, my sincerest sympathy at the loss. secondly, we cannot claim anything to be foolproof. since times immemorial, crime and law have been trying to better each other. so what seems fool-proof today may not be so tomorrow. all we can do is take the best measures available and then trust the rest to God. the "what's the use of tracker" etc is relative. after all, the more devices one uses (electrical or mechanical), the better in pecentage are the chances of surviving theft attempts. it's a matter of where one succumbs.

Such a great piece of advice about removing number plate prior to taking car to someone for its fittings... Hats off to you bro...

how they bypass the common Security alarm>? I mean car sounds when touched right>> and I believe it must at least take 15-20 sec to remove power cable?grip etc?? the n how come this common security system fails esp if a car is stolen from house?

right! so we all invest in expensive trackers....i mean...even the cheapest GSM based tracker is for around 15000 (I think)....and still thee thieves can disable it if they know there is a tracker in the car....

so here is a simple way to make a tracker for your car at home......ist cheap ....and you can track your car easily + also listen to whatever is happening in your car....
1: Get an old nokia phone...less than 1000 for a cheap one...
2: Get ufone sim card....
3: switch the phone on and hide the phone somewhere in your car....(connect it to charger etc. )
4: enable "ufone utrack" service...remember the service thay have where you can send a txt to any ufone number and if the number replies...you can trace its location....so basically...enable that...
5: worst case scenario....if you need to trace it....go to your phoen service provider and give them phone details...they can trace it for you...

if you are in UK .. you can use the website like..

2: configure phone to only reply the call from your own phone...
3: whenever you need to listen...call and listen

thought should share the good old method of tracking ........ of course its not the solution to posters question....but still!!! ONLY YOU would know where the Phone is hidden..... not unless the thieve uses mobile phoen jammer...your phone/car can be tracked!!

another solution can be...........

get a cheap CD player....
hide it somewhere in your car....
put your car CD player volume to FULL........ put a CD in it that has "CHOOR CHOOR CHOOR CHOOR" recorded.............
have a button that only you know to switch on/off the CD player....
whenever you park the car ...switch the button on....

now...whenever the thieve will try to start your car....atleast for good 1-2 minute he will be confused where this noise is coming!!!!!!!!!!!

its based on the same principle as personal alarm that people keep with them in europe and it only emits loud noise to attract attention...

and obviusly this follows the KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid) principle....solution to most of the problems lie in simple things that noone thinks!!!
