Yep - these E500 were made as a joint venture between MB and Porsche - the chassis and interior was MB and the powertrain and suspension setup by Porsche - it also had SLS in the rear. These were majorly expensive cars of their time.
I have driven one here in the US, I can tell you that its a masterpiece of engineering. Even with its 4 spd autobox, simple struts upfront and worm steering gearbox, the way it moves from 100 km/ to beyond 200 km/h is very raw and exciting yet the car remains calm and in control as if you are doing legal speed limits.
