I was thinking to create boots for myGS550e for a long time in this way but was not able to put the idea on the paper untill I saw this drawing with explaination of how to do it its like you put it exactly how I wanted it...

the only thing which concern me in this design id the hose pipe which i would used to conect/hange the "Carburator Array" becuase the that hose has to be some what heat resistant so that it do not melt or get mal formed when engine is fired u ... any advice on that ?

Thank you for appreciating the idea. I too was thinking of the hose part of this idea when I was drawing the metal part. My solution is the following: Automotive radiator hose (OEM part - not duplicate Pakistani one) is designed to withstand the temperature if the car overheated. That temperature is in the range of about 110C - 120C (pressurized systems). There is no way the temperature around the carburettors will reach 110C, more like 60C-70C tops. So what you need to do, is a bit of footwork and find hoses from Civic, Corolla, Shahzore, Hino and so on. A trip to Longman rubber store might prove useful. With a short hose (2 inches long), the chance that the carbs will flop down by their weight is minimal. However there remains the issue of compatibility of water hose with the fuel air mixture flowing through it. You will have to experiment and see what happens. Do not use hose intended for air service. Ideal would be hydraulic hose (due to its better resistance fuel) to but to find one in the correct diameter will be tough.

but I think this solution seems to be a worth a try instead of visiting used spare parts market for used but useable flanges.. as new are too expensive dont make value for the money ..

True. My estimate is that this will cost about Rs. 1500-2000 for Yaser's CB350 twin. Obviously if you have a quad carb setup the price will be double. The mild steel pilpe will have to be from the sanitary hardware shop (gusti pipe) galvanised pipe. Hopefully the size will be close enough. Otherwise a trip to the silencer walla will have to be made and gas welding will have to be done to the thin silencer pipe.

Once the plan begins fo formulate in the head then ideas keep floating in:)

i built many things to prevent air leakage 1 of you suggest has already been built before and was working but not long lasting the rubber pipe what ever type of radiator built or from tire thread get loose after few days the the air cooled engine through more heat and rubber get open day by day

khair this week i was really very in deep troubles my bike single stand got broken and fallen to the ground i was out some where .after came back i started it and heard the noise inside the engine and its like how it could be happen i change all bearings but suddenly i notice the noise is cumming from kick spindle. i wanted to be risky drive so i open the crank case

this is kick starter spindle you can see i have given the numbers let me describe about them

1. there has to be lock washer installed but some poor mechanic has welded this area
   2 a crack has been found and and its not able to disengage the 2 gears while engine start
   2 both kick gears has to be away from each other and has to be engage while you are going to kick start the engine

i open the whole setup and was laughing on mechanic he didn't even installed it properly
here are some complete with final pics now in finished pic you can see the gap as well no more noise

Yaser Sb. once again problem solved like a true engineer. Am I correct to presume now the bike comes out of second gear and also starts as it should? By the time you are done with this CB350, you will receive a medal from Honda Japan for saving this lucky CB350 twin from the Pakistani mechanic or maybe butcher is a better word.

thank you abbasi sab i made mistake while assemble crank case didn't even notice the kick spindle would be faulty too but i can,t drive noisy without a reason. currently position is gears are hard to be engaged and disengage ab Allah karay ab our kuch masla na hoo

Are the gears hard to engage/disengage when the engine is off or when running? Could it be that the clutch is dragging?

Sir when engine is off only first gear and neutral works and while engine is on engaging 1St gear no issue. I drive engaging 2nd and 3rd they are hard to shift

Whenever I have a problem with one of my cars, I go through a process of elimination in order to get to the root of the problem. We will do the same here.

Ok! Next question, I understand you rode the bike before you opened it up for the overhaul. Were the gears hard when you initially rode it about? That is, before you opened it up for overhaul? If the answer is "NO", then something went wrong during the overhaul process. If the answer is "YES" then there is a basic mistake done by the previous mechanic (we already know he was not the best man for the job).

Hummm. So the problem is pre-existing. Do you have a work shop manual or parts book that shows exploded views of the gear assemblies? Are there any spacers or thrust washers missing or wrongly placed or fitted back to front on the either of the two shafts? Maybe bent/worn selector cam (behind the star)?

Thank you Nadeem Sb. We can't let our friend Yaser Sb. standing all alone with no help. I only hope Yasir Sb. finds this useful. From what I can gather, maybe one of the trust washers is fitted wrong way (back to front). Bad news is that it means he has to strip down the engine. I think he is getting sick of it by now.

that is absolutely true refurbishing a vw BEETLE or retro classic bike is like finding a needle in a hay stack... and needs lot of patience I remember in 2008 when I restored and then later altered a Road Master it really needs a lot of Passion to go through all this...
