I know that. The argument isn't about this.
That is true, but the more likely reason is that Google services are banned in China, which is why Xiaomi and other vendors are successful. But the argument isn't about this.
I completely agree with you. The argument was never about android being more open source than iOS! This is the summary for the open-source argument (look how conveniently choi sab ignores the other arguments - feel free to read previous posts):
Choi sab: Android is open-source, which makes it better!
Me: AOSP is open source, however, the variant you use on your manufacturer phone (Samsung, LG, etc) has proprietary Google code which isn't open source.
Choi sab: Quickly google's "Android is open source" and posts a blurb describing AOSP - haha got you. See? Android is open-source, like I said!
Me: That's exactly what I said, if you didn't have reading comprehension issues. *Then I post links on how the Good stuff on android that everyone uses is actually not open source, like so:
What many people think of as "Android" actually falls into two categories:
the open parts from the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), which are
the foundation of Android, and the closed source parts, which are all
the Google-branded apps. While Google will never go the entire way and
completely close Android, the company seems to be doing everything it
can to give itself leverage over the existing open source project. And
the company's main method here is to bring more and more apps under the
closed source "Google" umbrella.
Good for you. I like the S8 too.
