Dowload one click root on pc and connect mobile with usb debugging on and click on root then shell root ...your mobile is rooted now ...you may hv to repeat this process if mobile not rooted first time ...root honay k baad super user k naam say app aa rahi hogi ....u can also download root checker from market to check root status .....

I always use ODin for flashing Roms / kernals and ofcourse rooting the phone

and what about battery ? how can i improve the battery

@umer bro go for desire z(if you are into physical keyboard), it has got the next generation processor though it is underclocked at 800mhz. The price is same aswell

Try looking for this phone, it was for 15k on the link some days ago, i think they increased price because of increase in USD rate I think u can get one around 15k in local market

congrats ..:-! different firmwares are of different natures... like darky's is for maximum performance ....miui is heavily inspired from ios .....some are moderate with both good perofromance and battery life ...there are around 48 roms for SGS so far ...u can check them by flashing one by one or if u want a stable rom with maximum battery and performance then read my signature ...
