Bro there are 2 ways. The shorter one is to check if cydia is intalled, & if it is then in the installed packages list check for ultra snow. If its there then its a software unlock, if not then its factory unlocked. Another way is to update it to the latest software if it picks the sim then its a factory unlocked phone.

Now there are two types of factory unlocked phones, one that is officially bought from apple stores and the other one is manual factory unlocked with hacks etc. As far as i know there is no way to check whether its official one or not.

Hey bro i installed cydia in my ipod touch 4g working fine. Now tell me one thing my friend has iphn4 factroy unlocked he yesterday updated his ios version to 4.3.5 and now he wants to install cydia how can we do that i tried jailbreakme.com but not working on his phone.

Bro for 4.3.5 he can use latest redsnow, but there is a problem the jailbreak is tethered which means every time phone shuts down, he would have to attach it to a computer and use red snow again. Its actually a pain in the A*S. Tell him to wait for a couple of weeks...

Root it.Else some apps does'nt move on stock phones.Or try App to SD Pro.
