evo 3D is my 1st htc phone ,
my set is on 1.20.401.8 , there r 3 updates after that latest is 2.17.651.5 ,
but how to update it when i try via ota
as they mentioned , i cant find option of system updates in the settings ?

as they mentioned on there site

1. Go to the Home screen
2. Tap Menu > Settings > System updates > HTC software update > Check now
3. Tap OK to download any available updates
4. After the download is complete, you will be prompted to Install Now or Install Later. Select Install Now and tap OK
to install the update.
5. A message will display indicating the update was successful. Tap OK to finish.

Go to Settings>About Phone>Software Update>Check Now. They just missed About Phone.......

Galaxy Nexus is not the successor of S2. So its a separate case with it. While S2 still has no successor,so its prices are pretty much fine.

my system is on 1.20.401.8 ,as i found there r some updates available i tried to update but i cant found system upgrade option in setting , i even tried in
setting>about phone>software update , but it says no updates available ,
i m bit noob in android, i dont even knew they supplied a rooted device i just found out !
so how can i be able to upgrade to new software version !

bit help will be very much appreciated !

How do you know if its rooted.? However you cannot install updates on a rooted device. You will have to download its Original RUU first then you have to install it by going to fastboot.

Its a long process but in short,Go to Settings>About Phone>Software Information and tell me what are the entries there.??

Another way to check it to Turn off your device,Pull out its battery for 5 secs,then put it back in,then press and hold power button along with volume down key at the same time,dont let it go until you see white bootloader screen,if you see RECOVERY option on the screen,your device is rooted.

BTW,If your EVO running on Android 2.3.4 then there are no further updates to install.

No bro its not rooted i think. Sprint has their own version of Settings. N there is no further updates available for EVO 3D so chill.

If i were you,i would have sold it by now. But in the end of the road,i dont sell my phones at all. Good offers are just a bump on the road. for me.

u are right but,the XL gives everything i want from a phone.Quality,huge screen,wonderful music experience,ONE X is out of my range right now :(.can afford upto 48k max.first thought of galaxy note but tooo big for my pocket.i also thought about droid razr,after using HTC im not interested to go for present samsung models due to low quality hardware feel.the big reason to sell S2 was this,i think will have to wait.
