Thats v strange mate ! what ROM you are using ? Stock ? , switch to a custom ROM and see what happens . I got the best battery backup from the S2 out of all the android phones i had.

Have you tried using BetterBatteryStats and look at its logs ? either you got a fishy app or you need to flash the stock ROM again using Odin . Or switch to a custom rom even !

And don`t worry i am quite sure S2 wil get the 4.3 . There is a huge dev following of S2 over at Xda

I used stock ROMs from Sammobile. I first used the 4.1.2 rom listed for Pakistan, then I used a more recent one listed for Italy (July release). BetterBatteryStats tells me its a Kernel wakelock named "gps-lock". Its keeping the phone awake 100% of the time. All location services etc are disabled. Since its a kernel wakelock, software is likely not the cause. Its becoming much of a hassle having battery drain even though it should be going into sleep mode...

i dont like the on screen virtual buttons on gfive g9 ... can this device be rooted so dt it can be removed ?

How will you navigate it with them, as it only has one hardware button and don't have any capacitative buttons like Galaxy series so its impossible to use android just with one Center button.

Got it New for 61k . Had S4 in my budget as well . But did`nt liked the plastic look of that . Plus HTC One has a Radio in it , which i use quite often during work

Difference of dual core and quad core
Large screen with medium sized screen
Better display with average display...

Both these phones don't fall in same category. S3 is a super high end phone whereas desire is not
