I have to say Alsvin looks quite good on paper. Features and looks are quite good. Being a previous owner of 3 Honda City's (1.5 MT Aspire 2014, 1.3 MT 2016 and 1.5 Aspire 2017) the Alsvin seems miles ahead. If the car is actually good in reality it will give a tough competition to City and Yaris. Yes, long term reliability is still going to be a question mark and nothing can be said about it for at least a couple of years but if the CEO has long term plans for Changan they won't be compromising on it.
He did mention "What's the catch", and this question has peaked my curiosity even more now, reason being, if Honda and Toyota have been selling their cars at such high prices with poor build quality (and I have actually experienced Honda's declining build quality of City... I had three models and every time I bought a City it's build quality was poor compared to the previous one) and less features, how is Changan going to offer those features, Euro5 Engine and a bunch of new features that we never see in PKDM Sedans. Especially when Honda/Toyota change the shape of bumper they bump the price up by 50k or more, it will be interesting to see if and how Changan can actually sell it on the speculated price.
It's going to be interesting though. I'm looking to buy a new car, City is not an option for me, Yaris (I don't like the looks but in 3 mil that's the only option) and 1.6 Altis is a bit above my budget. Let's see if Changan is worth buying.
