I would have been cautious about MG even if it was a British brand. I feel it is the Chinese brand that has proved itself in multiple countries, especially in countries where cars have to be really high quality to even be allowed on the road. I have less doubts about its build quality, its the little engine pushed hard with big turbo I am worried about.
In Pakistan, I am wary of turbos and little engines boosted with turbos to produce high horsepower and torque. 1.5 is small, and if it is pushed, its life expectancy will decrease. I am sure they will have added some measures to make the engine take more beating, but turbos have known reliability issues, and the quality of fuel and maintenance is also not very good here. Its better for MG to introduce the 2.0 NA or 2.4 NA (do local assembly to avoid taxes) than 1.5 turbo l3. Honda and Audi with turbos have reliability issues, MG to afterall Chinese hai.
High compression engines are very sensitive. Even if we buy RON 97, it is never guaranteed to have octane number of 97.
