Change of Carburetor Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40, 2F engine

I am a proud owner of a Pakistan Army auctioned Toyota Land Cruiser, FJ40, 1972 with 2F engine (Petrol with 4.2L (4230cc) displacement). I restored the machine from scrape!!!The engine is 100% and work like a strong horse but my only problem is heavy fuel consumption.
Just want your valuable advice about how to take care of heavy fuel consumption with the same engine???
Someone advice me to change the current Carburetor with a smaller carbonator of Toyota Corolla 1982 model??
Will it work effectively, practically and give me better millage??
Or does someone have a better option!!

Excessive fuel consumption and low mileage is the problem with 2F engine.
I'm also running 2F with its own carburetor and getting 4.3 Km/L while driving locally.
I have no idea whether using 1982 corolla's carburetor will help or not but a fellow pak wheeler is using carburetor of 1FZ and getting good mileage.

i don't think it will help to change the carb, pw member tareen@pw has experimented with 07 carbs in his 2f ranging from khtber carbs to the more powerful 3f carb, but he is ultimately going for deisel. You can contact him for further details.

Welcome to the madness and money pit. I happen to own 1982 FJ40 too. Even the finest tuned 2F with all the desi tricks won't do any better than 5km. 2F is a curse and blessing at the same time.

IMHO - Dont touch the carb if its starting regularly and not betraying you :). To me mileage is a lot minor issue than the usual 2F carb sh*ts. I have personally seen carb depression of a veteran enthusiast like @tareen

do not change the carb if you have a new one; change the distributor to a newer model electric kind and voila! you will be very happy to have 2F working like a horse; i did the switch more than a year ago and it works wonders on the 2F:) no missing troubles for sure

There is a recent 1FZ carbuerator modification on an FJ40 done by Farooq Awan for someone on the forum (I forget the person's nick) which is clamed to result in something like 8kms per litre!!

Not sure how accurate the figure is but it definately improves the mileage from what I am told. Worth looking into as 1FZ carbs are currently available in the 2nd hand market from what I hear....

I highly doubt that you will find "running" condition auctioned FJ40 if not extremely lucky
There is a place in Pindi caled Astabal , I can't guide you the complete address as I have visited only once 2 yrs ago but if you ask any taxi wala and tell him about the jeep market and scrapyard he will surly guide you.
You can find some restorable FJs there and some are fully restored mostly with B13 engines and asking price ranges from 8 to 13 lacs.
I have 2 FJs ,one was bought from a private owner in working condition and second was just a scrap body with non working 2F engine for 180K from a scrap dealer.
It's better to buy a cheap registered jeep from a private owner around 3 to 4 lacs and then spend some money on it to taste IMHO

with all gimmicks in the end most are satisfied with dieso versions of B series from 1 till 15 either turbo of simple version as per their taste n usage , if usage is occasional stick to stock version with less of non essentials
