2.8 for lower trim and 3.2 for fully loaded will be a handsome bet for both buyers and sellers otherwise it will be a flop.

I have seen the car and trust me the prices you mentioned are a disgrace to the car. Had you seen it you would agree with me. Even with the top trim at 38-40 its still good. It humiliates Vezel. Its bigger than Vezel, feels a load more premium than Vezel, roomier than Vezel. The one and only one plus point Vezel will have is the word HYBRID

I mentioned the price according to their previous history in Pakistan coz the older sportage if i am not wrong was equally good as compared to Mitsubishi Pajero and Toyota Parado but price was way to low at that time so I was expecting the same trend that they will offer it at less than other available options in crossover category.

Old sportage was a very crappy vehicle. I used to own one but sold it after 6 months of usage which was complicated by unfortunate heatups and occasional loss of power. I hope this one's better

They need to market themselves first. Prove their product and Quality. First deserve then desire. Specially with the fact that the badge KIA wasn’t earlier successful in Pakistan.

At 4 Million plus, many people would think BMW X1 is a better option even with less options. The BMW badge atleast is there and thats the way our market thinks. Not everyone understands

Considering the car, its comfort and quality as compared to others it would be over priced at 4.0 million maybe it should be around 3.0 million for fully loaded model in my opinion. Here in KSA it is priced at par with corolla... this is the reason these cars like Tucson and Sportage are a common site here.
Sportage has no comparison with fortuner whatsoever but maybe with Vezel

All of them belong to different classes.

Honda Vezel: Subcompact crossover SUV
Kia Sportage: Compact SUV
Toyota Fortuner: Mid-size SUV

I was talking about local market. Technically, Sportage is in direct competition with Suzuki Vitara, but Vitara is already a failure because of poor brand image and boring interior.

Fortuner is in competition because its a very basic SUV that lacks modern features and comfort. If Sportage can offer those, then people will definitely consider Sportage over Fortuner.

It isn't even a plus point. The worst thing in Vezel is its hybrid system. I bought brand new Vezel, got fed-up with its lackluster hybrid system and sold it after a year.

The reason these cars of KIA and Hyundai are successful is because they are priced well below other vehicles of the category and are feature packed!
But in no way it can match performance of Fortuner so if a buyer is interested in performance Sportage cannot substitute it. but it will for sure encourage sedan buyers to go for a compact SUV hence it has to be priced closed to the price of Grande or Civic

Is there option of 4WD or AWD or FWD in sportage?

One of them was an AWD. Base model was FWD. lets see what options they launch

Indeed Kia and Hyundai cars capture the market elsewhere on the globe is because they are 20-30% cheaper than their Japanese rivals. But unfortunately in Pakistan that might not be the case. There aren’t too many options and rivals here.

More importantly: Profit Greed is the first rule here and that again is because of lack of locally available options.

I don’t have high hopes regarding new companies entering the automobile industry . They will form cartel just like cement industry where all players give shelter to each other interests .

It's debatable and only time will tell, remember that a top spec vitara has all those "modern features" you talk about and yet it has failed to capture the market
