Chery presented the G5 at the Salão do Automóvel de São Paulo, which will go on sale at the end of 2011/2012.

The Chery-Riich G5 sedan is currently only available with a 2.0 liter engine. Chery however will bring a 1.8l to the market in April. The new engine offering will drive up sales of the car for a cheaper price. The 2.0 starts at 128,800 yuan (16.62 lac PKR), while the 1.8 will start around 110,000 yuan (14.19 lac PKR). The 2.0 produces 125kw power and 235nm torque, while the 1.8 produces 97kw and 170nm torque.

Riich G5 has proved to be a car for Chery that is good on papers but poor in sales. Since September 2010 Chery has hardly sold 3000 units of G5, one of the reasons is the 2.0 Engine. There is no other choice of engine option yet available for G5 while the consumption of the 2.0 liter engine is also not too impressive. Earlier this year there was news about a 1.8l engine option for G5 and now its is said that Chery will reintroduce the Riich G5 at the end of this month. Currently available with a 2.0 TCI 170 PS engine, the range will be expanded with a new 2.0 DVVT engine (139 PS), which has a much better fuel consumption of 7.9 l/100 km
