This is the vapor pressure sensor on the fuel tank pump module itself, either its bad or not responding correctly when the evap purge is called for by the engine computer.

Is this car under factory warranty?

P.s. it will seem like a map sensor fitted to the fuel pump lid.

Yes, the car is still under warranty. They changed the MAP sensor above the air filter, but the engine check light came on again after one day. I noticed that the Lahore service center doesn’t have a skilled technician who can find the real problem.

This sensor maybe on or near the air filter, or on the fuel pump module. It looks exactly like a map sensor but its job is to monitor the evap system pressure. Im surprised the dealership mechanics are not following the correct flowchart tree to fix this.

Its very very simple and cut and dry repair job, very basic back probe tests and a final check by artificially applying vacuum to it on a bench. Finished off by a smoke test of the evap system intact.

circuit performance usually indicates that the reading is out of range which can be a myriad of issues. Its a basic 3 wire sensor and is very simple to troubleshoot.

Are you topping off the fuel filler when refilling fuel - meaning filling it to the very top of the filler like filling a bottle or letting the fuel filler click itself shut? Topping off the fuel to the very top can cause a lot of extremely costly issues.

Actually.... the Chery dealer doesn’t have a proper technical person. Every time, I have to guide them by showing videos from Google. They are just trying things randomly.... like hit and trial.
Okay I’ll check with them about this sensor. Do you have any video or picture I can show to them? Thanks for your help.

About the fuel.... I always fill the tank based on the auto trip. In the city i usually refill the fuel tank till 30 to 35 litres....

I’ve had this issue since I bought the car, but no one has been able to find the real problem or fix it. After visiting many times, I noticed that the staff is not technical in Lahore service center. They don’t know how to properly check or diagnose the problem.

I also contacted Ghandhara, but I didn’t find any technical person there either. They also didn’t know what to do..... Any advice or solution?

You are right about the technical expertise of the Chery technicians. It very basic. There is no proper training done of the staff. In fact some of the dealer don't even have the Chery diagnostic tool or the technical books to decipher the codes.

I have been a Honda customer since 1997 until 2023 when I switched to Chery. I have been quite closely involved with the Honda 3S dealers over the years. They had a training program in place where the service advisor went for training once, twice or even three times a year depending on the need. The other thing I noticed was that the job satisfaction levels at Honda dealerships is pretty high leading to a very low employee turn over rate. The knowledge remains with te dealership.

There are two Chery service centers in Lahore. One on Firozpur road and the other on Hali Road. Have both been unable to fix your car? You could go the Chery Gujrat too. There is a 3S dealer there too.

Chery made a big mistake by working with ghandhara. I talked to the service center many times and they said ghandhara never gave them proper training. I think ghandhara knew this partnership was only for a short time.

Chery Gulberg is better.... at least their staff listens to you. But Chery Ferozepur/Jail Road doesn’t have good staff
The main problem is that no one is taking responsibility for the warranty...not the dealership and not ghandhara. Ghandhara is not answering calls or messages from the dealership. I also talked to ghandhara and they said their partnership is over so they are not handling any warranty now.....

Because of this the dealership doesn’t have any technical person from the company to help or guide them

Yes, that is the case. And one cannot expect Ghandhara to listen to Chery owners after the end of the partnership. Here Chery has dropped the ball. As I have said before, an alternative partner should have already been in place BEFORE they went and said goodbye to Ghandhara so that service to the customer continues seamlessly. Bad show on part of Chery.

The reason why I mentioned other Chery dealers near to you was that perhaps just by luck someone may have had some training and maybe able to help with you issue. If you look at the workshop manual pages I have up loaded, there is a 5 step diagnosis to get to the bottom of P045128.

What you might think of doing is the look for a mechanic who used to work at the BMW or Mercedes or Audi dealer and now has set up his own shop working independently conversant with cars having CAN bus communication. .

Actually on my side.......... since ghandhara was not helping.. I did something myself with the help of the dealership. One of the senior staff there was very helpful...he arranged and replaced some parts for me with payment... including the fuel tank pressure sensor, MAP sensor, and even the fuel pump. But the problem is still not fixed.

I also checked the manifold and other sensors by watching videos online and they all seem to be working fine.

The dealership has also called and emailed ghandhara many times over the last 6 months, asking them to send a technical person or someone from the Chinese team, but they never replied.

Now I am thinking to visit a technical expert available in Lahore who deals with Mercedes and other Japanese or European cars

I can feel your frustration. I am somewhat surprised that after all this work the issue remains. Could it be that some plastic part like the fuel tank of some associated pipe has a cracked and the ecu or ecm is not getting to see what it's looking for? I wonder if a smoke generator may highlight a leak in the emissions system.

Just keep you updated all.. After replacing this part last week, the problem hasn't come back since. This part is located on the fuel filling side, right above the tyre area.. thank you all for the help
But i still need to drive the car at least another 1000km to be sure the issue is fixed

Certainly I am praying it is resolved. By the way what is this? And who identified this part as faulty? Dealer or yourself or another independent mechanic.

I think it was the fuel vapor canister charcoal filter...... The mechanic there told us "Sir this is the only part we haven't checked yet, so we should check it" That's how we ended up changing this part.....

Actually on our previous visit...we opened the tire sheet to check the fuel tank wiring and thats when we noticed this part...

The fuel vapour charcoal canister (item 11) is located right next to the fuel tank. The item you have replaced might be the Charcoal canister breather assembly with canister shutoff valve (item 15). But I could be wrong.

Speaking of the activated charcoal canister, it is to be replaced every 3 years or 60,000km as per the service booklet. 3S shop said, well we have never heard that this needs to be done and we have never done this service on any of the cars so far. Google agrees with the dealer and says the charcoal should last the life of the car. Anyhow, I'll follow the service recommendation of replacing at 60,000km. I will be ordering one from Ali Express.

Not sure if it's the same part or not......need to confirm with the mechanic. in my case the part was located right above the tyre... visible when the tyre sheet was removed.

Just for everyone knowledge common symptoms of a Faulty Canister:
Fuel smell near the car No sign in my case

Usually a sniffer machine probe is inserted into the exhaust pipe. That machine gives a read out of Hydro Carbons, Carbon Monoxide and Nitrogen Oxides.

That will happen at 60,000km. Right now my car is at 56,000km. Nothing drastic is expected to happen. Car will perform as usual. Just like nothing happens after oil and filter change

It is confirmed that the charcoal canister is physically right next to the fuel tank (left front of tank). If you bend down at the rear left door and look under the car, the fuel tank is seen and right next to is a box. That is the canister

If anyone has had a flat tire in the Tiggo 8 then they must have gone through the frustration of trying to line up the lug bolt hoes to the holes in the hub. Years ago I had a Mercedes that had this same design of having lug bolts instead of lug nuts. Included in the Mercedes tool kit was a wheel hanger tool. This is a simple device takes the guess work out lining up the holes of the hub to wheel.

Works something like this

Once the pin is inserted then the wheel is placed over the pin, the other holes line up. After the four bolts are inserted, then the pin is removed and the last bolt goes in

I got two pins from Ali Express. From experience two pins make fixing the wheel much easier.
