Dear friendz,
My Tiggo 8 was booked in April n delivery was in August,
They told me deliveries r delayed by 6 weeks, they told me car will b delivered in October for sure n asked me to deposit CVT n revised freight charges which I paid .
Till now no news , not answering call or wats app message.
I plan to visit them on Saturday, Chery Gulberg, Lhr.
I want ask , if I cancel my order now, will I get a full refund? Can I drag them into court for extra compensation for not delivering car on time n holding my money for this long period?

Yes you should get your refund. It may take time but you will get it. As far as Chery is concerned as long as the documents have not been made in your name, they loose nothing. Usually the documents arrive weeks after you get delivery of your vehicle, so, as I said you should get your refund. As far as taking them to court is concerned you will loose that case as they will site reasons beyond their control (LC issue, Dollar fluctuation issue) for not being able to meet the delivery date. Hence you may loose that one. However, you might consult a lawyer to see if you can get the interest refunded on the money if at all that is possible.

Chery increased their prices to 8.2 million when dollar was at 240. The dollar has been stable for about a month now around 220-222. Therefore I think Chery should reduce their prices.

You made the right decision not to book the car. After 7 months since booking, I have officially cancelled. It was a tough decision but ultimately I had to see what was best for me financially. My delivery month was October and the company asked me to deposit balance payment by December 6th for delivery in Jan to lock my price at 8.4 million rupees, an eye-watering 18 lakh rupees more than what I had booked it for. Not only that, there's increased taxes such as 1% CVT and 50k more tax for non-filer. I am done with this car for now.

At this time the country's financial condition is very precarious. Under these volatile conditions it is not a smart move to do heavy financial investments. Your decision is very sound. I had also booked a X70 Proton for my wife that has been cancelled. Now waiting for my refund from the Proton people.

I am toying with the idea to get one of the second hand cars offered in the market at this time. Of course the price of these "used" cars is pretty high but what is one to as the factory is not producing anything at this time or one has to wait a long time. The question I have is aimed at long time owners of the car: How is the service experience from the dealers? I am based in Islamabad. The only thing holding me back is the thought of buying the car and then realizing that the dealer backup is below expectation. As you know these are very complex cars needing computerized diagnostic tools to talk to the vehicle. The last thing one needs to hear that there is only one computer in the whole country and the dealer has to wait to get it sent to them. So your honest experiences will be most appreciated.

I have taken the plunge and gone for the vehicle. I have bought a used car and the previous owner had a chat with me about the level of repair experience of the Islamabad dealer. I was informed that their knowledge base is very basic. However there is a Chinese engineer in Karachi who can link up to a laptop connected to the car in Islamabad and can remotely work on the car. This has not been verified by me personally but the previous owner says he saw it. Anyhow I have been driving the car for 2 days and certainly there is a problem with the brakes as others have pointed out. This morning I took the car to the dealers and they said we'd like to bleed the system. The feel has improved plus I am getting used to the car and so coming from the Civic gen X and BR-V I do feel that the pedal is very wooden in its feel. The car does stop but it is like pressing the brake of a Bedford truck by comparison to the Hondas. The other thing I noticed was that the lane departure warning and collision warning system is quite moody. They work or take a vacation as and when they please. This too needs to be looked at by the dealer. Acceleration is really good and so is the ride, noise dampening is good. Tried the adaptive cruise control which is quite a novel feeling coming from cars with conventional cruise controls. I am still going though all the various settings. The user manual written by a Chinese guy who they thought had good English is hilarious. Quite a lot of it makes no sense.

Some more driving impressions. My son has bought a Haval Julion used. Between the two cars I have to say that the Julion ride is better. Sound insulation is better on the Tiggo 8. The center screen display on the Julion is next level. Though the two engines are just 100cc apart, the Tiggo 8 acceleration is phenomenal compared to Julion. As already said, brakes are disappointing on the Tiggo 8.

However potential Tiggo 8 buyers have to know that the software of the car is not stable. What I mean is that if the same event occurs repeatedly the response of the car to the event is not the same every time. Here is what I mean. Lets take the eco idle for example. I start from my house to go shopping. In the trip I will stop at a shop then go to another and then another. All this time eco idle might not work and then it will start working all on its own. On another day same scenario, as soon as the blue engine cold light goes out the eco idle works at the first intersection near my house where I have to stop before crossing it. Auto lock is another item. The car is supposed to lock as I walk away from the car. This too is a hit and miss. The front collision warning and auto brake has already been discussed. Earlier I said that hte lane departure system was moody. I take that back. In roads where road making is not crisp, the system has difficulty in reading it (perfectly understandable). Having said that, the lane departure and door open warning when another car is approaching work well each time. So I'd say that these bugs need to be addressed in a software update. On the other hand the Julion has fewer features but has a more mature software which seems rock solid. So we have to wait and see how this unfolds. Also there is an issue with the trunk door open logic. One is supposed to stand within 0.8 m of the car then step back more than 0.8 m from the back and the trunk is supposed to open. This too is a hit and miss thing. I just press the trunk release button and be done with it.

2. While marching the car from stop position in slow speed at times shaking and jitters are felt, don't know why.
3. Fan speed increase on its onw at times
   4, AEB and FCW works on its mood.
