never saw a exi auto..though alot of manuals...and competition between them...a fine tuned exi do wonders.....dont get confused buy not having VTEC with this engine...

auto vti are very slow

I have heard that City Steermatic is amazing coz of its power to weight ratio. However, I have driven Exi in both trannies and I must say its nothing but disappointment. No power, no throttle response...

My votes fo Steermatic.

I guess very very interesting to decide this,both are comparitively same in different faculties...like civic exi's engine is non vtech but 1500cc,and steermatic's engine is also 1500 but vtech,also transmission difference like as far as my experience honda's simple transmissions like,manual is so impressive and good than its other transmissions...and its easy to handle for racer or good driver...,but on the other hand technology,of combine transmission,Auto with triptronic manual gears...sort of haddick for new driver...and i dont think steermatic is a racing car,well over all my vote goes for civic Exi...as i have drove both...from so many point of views Civic Exi might win :),people that practically experienced racing will further tell it,BUT I REMEMBER when i had 1.6 GLi auto how badly i beaten my friends steermatic,his steermatic was with Air intake,4 pins bosh super plugs,and on petrol,and my indus was in brand new condition,just 30k orignally ran,i beaten him with quite a distance while going to Hawks bay lulz

@aashiq1001: On the contrary we have a steermatic owner who claimed to have beaten 1.6 GLI by a mile. So you see let the race take place and bring your GLI if you still have it. I am condifent that you will all see what steermatic is capable of

just to let you know that i am an ex-owner of steermatic and back in 2008 i had a friendly short race with my brother in law's 2002 VTI Oriel Prosmatec and I beat him like hell!!! but the only reason i did not mention it that much on PW coz his car had CNG kit installed

I would recommend that both steermatic and exi or vti should not have any CNG coz in case they loose, they will definately say "it was coz of CNG kit"!!!

@Archon Bro I am fine landed safely on wednesday as we talked In lahore condition is not so bad but further up towards north its really bad may GOD be with all of us in this rainy season what about karachi?

Regarding steermatic & EXI me & Sir @Incnogito is ready to accept any kind of challenge with out any harsh feeling but yet I did not saw any EXI owner accepting the challenge.
All the runs will be in friendly environment in head to toe stock condition cars
(no hidden wepons under the belt)

Stock steermatic vibrates like hell on 140km/hr, its chassis balance/handling braking is not at all suitable for the engine, it will easily rollover @ high speed 50 degrees or more turning.

Exi PROS will be more then enough on a track or real street racing, in straight line it will definitely loose.

EXI Manual can keep up with it, if driver knows about his Clutch.

VTI PROSMATEC will definitely leave it behind on both Petrol and CNG.

I have a VTI manual, Petrol driven, 50K driven, I know what its capable of, its 9.5s flat to 100km/hr and I can repeat that as many times as I want, even my 1.8L M111 Mercedes with high octane and 5 speed auto cannot keep up with it.

Still if someone thinks that his steermatic can better that or I am giving wrong statements, he is welcome to certify that.

Steermatic is only good for Se Saloons and Indus Gli.

CNG will definitely favor the Steermatic against EXI, but its match at all with a 3 stage VTEC, even on CNG.

959: I dont know what steermatic have you driven - I myself owned one so speaking from experience and all other owners will agree - Steermatic can easily go up till 180 without any vibration or stability issue. My steermatic did start to vibrate at 160 but after getting the wheels balanced the problem was no more there. But like I said, lets have a friendly race and we will see what turns up

BTW you did not mention whether your VTI is 1.6 or 1.8. The 9.5 sec time is for 1.8 and I never said that steermatic can take on 1.8 civic

Im also a very big fan of the 7th Gen Civic.
Even I like it more than the Steermatic,
But in a 400m straight road, Steermatic takes the lead.

The Place where I work has 30-40 Civics and City's, both new and old (up to 5 years) and Honda South maintained, Petrol driven.

The 9.5s time is for 1.6L and 1.8 can do that in around 9s, that is for manual, and I can bet my life on that a Petrol VTI manual can easily overtake a Steermatic wether its 400m or 4 km or else it will be in a rough condition.

Maybe the steermatic I have driven had alignment problems, but I have also driven many IDSI in outstanding condition and it also tries to fly on highway @120km/hr and above and I believe IDSI and Steermatic have pretty much same suspensions.

You cannot compare the stability of Civic with a City, not even with the old 6th gen VTI.

The bridge near Shell Petrol pump after nursery, which I believe is the most curvy bridge in Karachi and I was able to climb the bridge at turning @ 50km/hr with one hand, car was 05 VTI manual with Michelin Primacy 15".

959: No one is comparing the stability aspect and FYI, I also owned an IDSI before and there was no probe at 120 km/h, Better get your Cities checked my friend. Yes the suspension is the same, how ever steermatic does have low profile tires.

As for the VTI issue, lets hope we will have a showdown soon - but it is all fair to compete auto tranny (Prosmatec) against the steermatic - but for kicks lets try manual as well.

I second @Retograde there is no issue regarding the stability of steermatic lot of time I push mine above 150km with out any problem

Regarding 1.6 manual vti oriel no1 is claiming to cross vti easily(as she is 1.6 & manual) but we all steermatic owners are open hearted people and I would never mind to put my steermatic neck to neck with manual VTI & EXI.

But if we stick to the topic the actuall match would me between Steermatic & prosmatec EXI.
