iam thinking of swaping my Accords 88 engine for a 1.5 or 1.6 VTEC honda engine.

IS yor engine from a EXI civic.

You are right about getting it done professionally. however that wouldnt have satisfied my learing urge. You wont believe how much I am enjoying learnig new things daily.

I still have to varify if its from Civic. My guess is that exi hase an underpowered verion od this engine i.e D16z or similar.

BTW I remember you had a civic 95

anywayz ..
u should have checked shair shah ( karachi ) , recently a guy has imported alot of Vtec engines from Imported Honda city ( from malaysia)
I originally thought that Honda city came without vtec , but he said that outside city came in d15 vtec`s also ..

( p.s i though city was locally assembled here and in india only )

Hello All,

Today I have solved the mystery of Check engine light coming on after the installation of engine. I shorted the service connector and turned on the ignition. The CEL blinked and gave me Error Code 17. Its code for bad Vehical Speed Sensor (VSS). And rightly so cos I am using my original carby tranny which doesnt have the sensoe installed. The connector is just hanging out in engine bay. Now I will try the get this signal out of speedometer (if its has the output) and hook it up to ECU.
Will keep you posted on the progress.

There are speedo clusters available if you dont find your original speedometer having that output.

If not ... then you can get a new one which recieves input from an electronic VSS sensor and get a electronic VSS. The ECU will also get the input from the electronic VSS sensor.

@BIG_BOSS I know you did the modifications a long time ago.. I own the same model as yours .. city 1999 carb engine.. anyhow facing fuel economy issues lately (7-7.5 kmpl in city) and want to upgrade my engine with the one you had done in urs... Just need some tips here since my primary concern is fuel eco..
1. Shall I go for the engine upgrade the same as urs??
2. Do you have a better engine in mind.. I saw one of the members mentioning duel VTEC?? Will it available in good condition
3. Lastly I am also in Isb... From where did you get Ur work done ?? Can you provide their contact information etc?

Get your carb tuned from badar engineering sultan ka khu rawalpindi. These days engines are very expensive. Clean D15B dual vtec costs 1.5 lakh and keep 50-60k for installation and other modifications. In my opinion you should get your car tuned and keep it driving once you have budget you can upgrade to city 2005-6 model.
