Does anybody here know if an accord (CL7/9) gauge cluster can work in a 96-00 chassis civic. D17 engine.
I know 2004/2005 civic clusters do work with this chassis engine combo.
D17 engines share some stuff with K series engines and are of the same era, so i guess the tacho should work but what i don't know is if the speedo will work or if itll display the speed properly.
The reason i want todo this is since on my original cluster the speedo gave out and i cant be bothered with fixing it and if it needs changing i might as well swap in a better looking cluster and one that has better lighting and stuff. Also being able to wire in all the door switches to those individual open door indicators should add some character and functionality.
Also most importantly, will the fuel gauge work accurately as an electrician told me with the common lexus cluster swap it doesn't.
Any help would be appreciated and to the purists that'll argue against it cuz it spoils the originality and "genyanness" of the car; I get it i really do. I'm just done with the stock cluster and Im trying to keep in Honda but I want an upgrade.

2004-2005 civic cluster may be swapped, accord one has different wiring altogether and size difference is also alot.

The accord one can be made to fit as ive seen it in an H22 car.
I really dont like the look of the 04/05 civic one.
Wiring can be custom done like each wire separately connected accordingly, I know a wiring wizard.
Its just a question of compatibility of 3 things, Speedo, Heat and Fuel gauge.

It's better than our stock one. Looks very nice. But accord one is next level. But I think you should first test and then buy it and if it doesn't work return it. Also if you get it working please post pictures here

Yeah I’ll definitely write a guide in that case, for anyone else that’s interested.
The main issue atm is the Speedometer and wether it’s a digital or analog signal and if speed sensor will work with it or not and if a converter will be needed.

Good luck if you do decide to go ahead with Accord's cluster, it surely is a nice looking cluster. It might be too big.

I'd also suggest you to look at original EK Type R, SiR or Spoon clusters. They do look really cool as well and will fit bolt on, a few pics for reference:

The cluster in the 1st row and 3rd column is night time for SiR and the 2nd row 1st column is night time pic for the Type R cluster. As you can see if they are clean they illuminate really well.

So I must say the SiR one is beautiful. And thanks alot for attaching the pictures, you're right about the illumination as it looks really nice and those red redline stripes are a super nice touch aesthetically.
I'll talk to the electrician and see what i go with, type r is definitely gonna be too expensive but if i can find an SiR one it'll do nicely,

How can I illuminate the stock cluster really well? Can I use LEDs instead of halogen bulbs?

That’s what I have done and am unsatisfied as the issue is the design of the cluster.
Back when they designed it, it wasn’t meant for led bulbs or brighter bulbs than stock.
So by adding leds, it will be illuminated ALOT better but the light will shine through unevenly from the lettering.
The rpm gauge will be brighter on the right side and so will the speed gauge on the left side.
This is due to the position of the bulb behind the cluster.
If you’re okay with this slight imperfection then do go ahead with it.
Clean the meter from the inside and get the glass cover buffed and you’ll feel like it’s brand new.

Hi my name is Ahmad and I am from Lahore. Have bought Honda civic 2000 recently because I liked it so much from a long time. My car antenna was working but now it is always popping out when I switch on and goes down when I switch off the engine. I know the button but it doesn't work if car engine is running the button does not work but work when car engine off. I want to drive without the antenna out can anyone suggest what's the problem and what I can do for it?

I've had recently got a new cluster for our civic. If the cluster is clean then the stock cluster is good enough. I took this pic last night with oneplus 2 having an average camera, the temperature and fuel gauge bulbs look weak to me but still are visible. So simply get a new and clean cluster and you should be good to go.
