Last F20B is still there I believe, at Faisal's shop- and no, I bought an H23 vtec. I needed a torquey motor for my heavy car, lazy driving style, and long ratio eco gears.
F20B is high revving motor, sure it lacks some torque of H series but it'd feel more alive in a lighter car with a close ratio tranny.
It has very good bore to stroke ratio, better than H22, even better than Type-R B18C... fancy that!
It all means that this motor can handle higher revs better and still be reliable. With a little head job, you can tune it to rev upto 9000 rpms- which is F20C territory. Imagine 3000 rpms of vtec, coupled with a close ratio gear that'd never let you fall out of it.
Also, it comes with cast iron sleeves, unlike FRMs of H22, so you can boost it in future. F engines are more reliable as well than H engines. You'd hear about spun bearing and broken rods on Hs a lot more than Fs.
Tall ratio in 5th IS good, ideal infact, it gives you motorway fuel economy. What you need, with a tall 5th gear, is higher final drive ratio and shorter 2nd and 3rd gears- that's it.
Again, I'd still advise you to use a D series LSD tranny. It'd be half as much cheaper, less trouble to fit, leave lesser work for axles, easier/cheaper to find clutch set for, cheaper to repair/replace, lighter, and lastly quicker as well.
Those pictures of my car- that has been sold for long time now- have been there since forever. Perhaps you didn't bother to visit the thread
