I recently came across a thread of exploding civic sunroof (spontaneously). It further lead to some global and macro research. I found out that it has been happening all around the world for a long time now.
The reason is the pressure on automakers to make cars with better fuel consumption. In order to achieve that, the glass for sunroof being used is now thinner than before.
I hope nobody has to go through such incident which could become fatal.
Moreover, I have also found out remedies
a) get your sunroof tinted from inside. The shattered glass would stay stuck to the tint
b) if parked in heat or under direct sunlight, make sure the plastic visor is pushed back. It wouldn't add more heat pressure in the glass that way.
Any further advises are most welcome.
Stay safe everyone!
