Correct, Michelin has a horrible dry rot (cracking) problem and Yokos are really overrated, there are quieter and more durable tyres in the market you just have to know what kind of treadwear , load and speed ratings you need, tread patterns are equally important and then comes the noise rating. A few db higher is not as big deal as people here make them, Your driving conditions should dictate your ideal tyre specs and whichever brand has those suitable for you should be your choice.
Also, let's not forget that even Chinese tyres are getting pretty good now, I have heard good reviews about Atrezzo and Mirage-100 and even Boto tyres.
Continentals are a boutique brand, Yokos are considered highest quality but what good is a high quality tyre that lasts 20k , comfort has a cost.
I have heard people using Euro Stars till 60k , Which is zulm to one self. Should find a happy medium and go with tyres that last long. Michelin ENERGY savers in my car have lasted 5 years and 90k and still going but dry rot has started to occur and 40% tread is still remaining while the tyre has gotten very hard. Not a single puncture in 2 out of 4 tyres though. Rest have 2 or 3 ineach. I'll be replacing them next year with Either Atrezzo or Mirage since they fit my budget and last almost as much as Michelin.
