every house nowadays has 4 cars and 7 motorcycles parked outside it (and not parked on their property either, they leave them on streets)

With the new automotive policy announcement and relaxations in ACD and Regulatory duty amounting to 22% for CBUs under 850cc, isn't it time for Honda and Daihatsu to step in and officially import kei cars in Pakistan?

You may love to see it but the fact of the matter is that for middle class people its an important asset. For somebody who cant afford a nicer car due to the Pakistani situation a small car is seen as an achievement.
Try saying that to the poor man driving his fx taxi after his job to put food on the table. Or to the honest clerk who bought his mehran after laboring and pennypinching for 20 years so his kids can live a better life than him

trend of restoring Japanese mid 70's onward sedans is growing. I believe by 2022 JDM 660 will die and be sold by weight. KE series Corolla, Daihatsu Charmant, Datsun 120Y prices have rocketed up. So are the parts price in Scrapyards for such vehicles.

Lack of engine rebuilding new parts for JDM 660 is key factor for all those ending up in car graveyards.

Pak Suzuki is only company outside Japan with MITI authorization to assemble / produce 660 cc vehicular engines.

i doubt if any other Japanese Auto brand will go for 660 cc class hurting their brethren Suzuki.

Atlas and Indus have an unwritten pact with Pak Suzuki whereby they shall not cross into each others' territory, as pointed out by a senior member above. This is another dimension to their dirty play in our market for the last 3 decades.

What Atlas is doing in their recent City launch has never been witnessed in a long long time. Taking bookings of a model WITHOUT revealing it.

Our public is to blame more than anyone else, for generously accepting most of the wrongdoings. There can't be any concept of consumer rights when the consumers are not bothered by anything.

In short you want new 660cc cars in Pakistan but refuse to eliminate the old ones, meaning you really want to live in a place where roads would be called parking lots due to traffic jams - just because "honest clerk putting food on table"?

I come from the same "honest work" background in Pakistan - and literally work with my hands to earn a living.

Yes

Solution is to “reduce” the number of cars. Not increase it and I specifically said for smaller cars as they are the highest in numbers.

This is standard practice globally.

Solution is to improve traffic system and implement the law in proper spirit as well as ensure more parking spaces. After a proper traffic system exists urban density should be reduced.
These are the required steps. Reducing number of cars is feasible only in countries where small cars are not expensive assets
