I got this problem in my son's car. He spent a lot of money on changing different things but did not worked anyhow he got the code # for the problem through Computer and it cameout to be MAF sensor and catalytic converters in the silencer.
What we did, we brought a carborator cleaner, started the car and directly sprayed it into the Air intake hosepipe gently, we consumed the whole can. It worked. Want to add one thing after we finished we found a dirty blackish brown fluid coming out of the silencer, which I assume perhaps catalyte converter is also cleaned upto some extent.
Without any offense let me tell you one thing that MAF silencer has very fragile thin heater wires in it. Directly spraying over it can blew up these wires no way to use cloth to clean it. But yes electronic cleaner is the best thing to use.
