ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has given approval to the gas load management plan under which different sectors were prioritized as for as availability of gas is concerned.
The ECC met here under the chairmanship of Federal Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh during it gave approval to the gas load management plan.
Under the plan, first priority for availability of gas will be given to domestic users of gas.
Second priority will be given to the power plants and gas quota for power plants will also be increased. Moreover, gas distribution companies will be free to determine quota for each power plant.
Third and fourth priority will be given to industrial users and the cement sector.
Least priority will be given to the CNG sector, which means that general public should be ready for long queues to be able to get CNG for their vehicles.
The ECC also decided that new tenders will be issued for the import of liquefied natural gas. – SAMAA
