Hey Fyq, How are you?
First things first, I have a Honda Civic 2003 EXI. It has the same CNG Kit (LR) as shown above (Which is pretty old i guess, you don't see them anymore). Around three years ago, first time that I laid my hands on this car it was a nightmare. The car would run on CNG but RPMs dropped & shut down everytime I took my foot off gas. Got it checked from a million different Workshops. They increased the CNG volume, some adjusted air from the adjustment screw on the kit, some restricted Air flow by blocking the Inlet to the Air Filter Housing (The old cover-the-half trick) but nothing seemed to work. The same problem would appear after few days. (They cleaned the Throttle Body & everything attached as well)
Then I went to this guy who told me to get my "Choke Sensor" cleaned because that was the only problem, which i did & everything started to set into place. The RPMs would not drop most of the times but sometimes they would non the less.
These three years that I have had the car, the same problem has been there in one form or the other. You can't even imagine the kind of pain it had been.
Here are the symptoms & few things that will help you identify the problelm.
1- RPMs drop sometimes & car turns off. (RPM needle drops like a ton of weight is attached to it which it should not. RPMs are set to 700 w/o A.C)
2- Inlet to Air Filter Housing is half covered.
3- CNG Kit was serviced around a month ago. (I keep servicing it periodically)
4- Lower Air Filter Housing part has some of the nut holders broken. I have had them repaired but they break again somehow. The top cover fits on it & center bolt screws in real tight with the remaining bolts only a little lose. (The top cover when fitted doesn't move though when pulled by hand.)
5- Advancer is installed but Emulator is not installed.
I am already thinking about buying a new CNG kit (or a good used one) & replacing the Complete Air Filter Housing (Though most of the mechanics & CNG Techs have told me that it is fine).
The post is long, i know but you have no idea how much i have suffered. Please propose a solution or give me an estimate of how much it will cost me to replace the above mentioned items.
