Review
This is the best compact I’ve had so far. Photos are overall great, and the night-steady-hand mode utilizes some sort of image stabilization that truly makes it possible to shoot during night, without using a tripod. Of course it’s never like using a tripod, but in my case, it overcome my expectations. Furthermore, the video function is a real blast. I’m usually kickin’ it 720p, but even at this “lower HD” quality, it looks great. The quality of the videos really kill anything made with my old Sony (DV) Handycam. Oh, I haven’t noticed any distortion either. Of course, perspective gets pretty wicked at widest lens setting, but that’s natural. However, some vignetting will in some cases occur when shooting with lens at it’s widest setting. So, what can you expect? The price is great, seeing what you get. I fully recommend this point-and-shooter.

Also, the people who will borrow it from you wud think that its a DSLR

I'm a frequent user of my Nikon D7000 and Pentax K5, both are basically more or less twins, love them, but other than these I really enjoy using the Sony HX9 or the Nikon S9100. DSLR's and SLR's are limited due to lenses, compact digital cameras like the S9100 have an edge over here, for example the macro capabilities of both the HX9 and S9100 are brilliant, I usually use my D7000 for wide angle shots or at weddings, for other daylight photography and especially in flower exhibitions, S9100 and HX9 perform really good

The portability will suffer again in this case which is my primary concern.

Thanks mate but they lack Bigger Aperture, I can sacrifice higher zooms over Aperture. That's where Nikon P310 comes in handy and recently I saw a couple of good P&S from Canon, in one of your post you mentioned not to consider Canon here. What was the reason there?

its better getting one from US if someone is coming over!

As a second camera having a DSLR already, especially for the such prices, nothing serves better than an iphone 4,4s/high end android - snap, edit, share in one go. Plus you can be sure that it is always with you all the time.

This is being used by pros in an international news organisation as a backup along with high-end dslrs. It is quite solid and have got pretty kicka$$ specs. Strongly recommended.
