I have owned and used the following vehicles in Middle East:
1) Toyota Prado V6 2008 - 2013 (Purchased Brand New)
2) Nissan Patrol V8 2014 - 2015 (Purchased Brand New)
3) Toyota Avalon V6 (2013 - 2015) (Purchased Brand New)
4) Mitsubishi Pajero (2015 - 2016) (Purchased Brand New)
5) BMW X5 V8 (2015 - Present) (Purchased Brand New)
6) Toyota Land Cruiser V8 (Used at Office as Pool Vehicle)
After using all the above vehicles, I can assure you that there is no better vehicle than Toyota Prado when it comes to strength, sold feel and off road capabilities and even reliability.
Nissan Patrol is made very good, but it is too bulky and it is annoying and the feel is just not like the Toyota, it feels less solid than Prado and LC.
LC is very very good, but I do not like the handling because of its bulk size. Because of its size, its handling is hugely compromised, although it is a tank. If you like to cruise at low speeds (Under 80 KM/H), then this is the best SUV for you. But at higher speeds, it doesn't feel that good and it is here where the Prado shines. And by the way, both LC and Prado are equally reliable and require almost 0 maintenance. In Australia, Prado is more preferred over LC because then you go on rough tracks, Prado handles better because of its size and weight.
BMW X5 is an amazing vehicle, outclass interior with all the technology and gadgets, amazing handling but again, it doesnt feel as strong as Toyota. It is a delicate vehicle which needs special care and you cannot abuse it.
My personal favorite is Prado and I miss it. May be I will buy once they change the shape in 2020.
Hope this helps
