yeh that khir khir tooth grinding sound from engine which every cg has. They do it in every gear even 3rd, 4th if you release the clutch in slow speed.
It has spoiled my riding pleasure. No one seems to have a solution everyone is guessing.
A have seen a lot of videos about clutch in general and specific about cg125 and what i understand is that clutch can not make a noise like that. This noise is similar to the grinding noise of a worn out sprocket chainset but it comes from engine.
CG engine is like that this khir khir issue is mostly observed in 1st & 2nd gear. 3rd & 4th who would ride it does not make any such sound who would ride below 20km/h 3rd or 4th gear. Between issue is not serious that it completely ruins pleasure just keep the clutch settings on recommended settings if you have not touched factory clutch settings just run the bike no need to worry its not an issue if you throttle properly and rightly release clutch sound does not come. Showing bike to mechanics for this issue is complete useless they would useless experiments & ruin bike
Amjad bhai don't mind but you are a bit biased towards Honda bike's. Agar yehi koi aur company ki bike hoti to aap ne uss ki achi khasi izzat krr k rakh deni thi. Aur ussay worst quality ka tamgha de dena tha. This problem started to come in CG after 2009 i think i am not confirm about the year. It's due to some problem in the clutch housing (clutch housing splines are thinner in AHL housing i guess) and some of the members reported to have solved this issue by using some other brand housing.
ALH should have rectified it within a year like every other company do.If they get a problem in their design they fix it in new model next year.
You can see an example from ybr how they quickly redisgned it for 2018 according to customers desires.
I like CG125 but because of only this it is a pain to drive it in rush and slow speed using clutch.
Not at all, I raise every issue present in Atlas Honda motorcycles criticize alot. I have never ever rode an cg model older than 2011. In 2011 same issue was present but even worst. I had bought brand new deluxe in 2012 this issue was not present in my cg dream 2015 & cg dream 2016 this issue was present but not to this extent that it completely frustrates you except this gear shifting is very smooth in cg engine.
user-xxx Yup Atlas should resolve it completely and it is an flaw. But if you don't set clutch settings properly than it is not issue of company. I am saying this because seen most cg owners & mechanics don't set the freeplay of clutch on recommended settings.
AHL never rectify any of the issue's in their bike's they just train their mechanic's to say their customers that this is normal noise and nothing to worry about it.In start they used to entertain warranty claims for this clutch noise issue but now their mechanic's will somehow convince you that this noise is normal. Once i asked my local mechanic while getting my Ex-CG 2011 tuned. He gave me two solutions for this noise one was, sending the clutch housing to kharadiya and he will grind something and make it better. Other solution was to change clutch housing with some taiwanese clutch housing. But i sold my bike and never got that issue rectified so can't say for sure if any of the above actually work's.
Which city you are from ?
Even the gear shifting is not smooth, Agay press krty hue, half way main arakta hy.same happens when taking gears out.
Clutch setting is on tighter side, i will check today it should be around specs.
I'm from Faisalabad. Try adjusting the clutch to factory spec's. If it still does the same then check the drum bushes and chain adjustment. My bike's gears also used to get stuck half way due to worn out drum bushes.
yeh just checked clutch setting is ok and bushes are fine
you need to change the clutch plates housing....someone had changed and there's a thread about it. his problem is solved after that. i don't remember the name of thread. between that's an old thread.
@user-xxx & @hassantahir2
You may be having an specific fault in your cg, but overall they have been sold in millions and cg has smooth shifting gearbox except for this khir khir sound. Hard gear shifting is due to clutch setting & chain setting if ok you may be facing other problem.
AND I AM AMAZED WHAT BUSH RUBBERS YOU GUYS ARE TALKING CG HAS NO DRUM RUBBERS
CG has Drum bushes instead of drum rubbers. When rear sprocket is removed they are beneath that.
I have never seen those, have seen removed sprocket from hub may be inside their in four holes are some kinda bushes. But i don't think
Yes, bushings are in those holes.
Thank you for this information.
And Amjad bhai for that millions of unit's sold by AHL. The reason behind that is almost everyone who buy's Honda bike's have no clue about quality most of them even don't know how to tighten the chain on their bike's people buy honda just to get them from one point to other... Yamaha and Suzuki are mostly bought by enthusiasts that's why you would be able to see so many complaints about those beacuse a enthusiasts cannot withstand those issue's.. Mostly not all people who buy Hondas don't know a damn about these thing's so you won't see such complaints about them although similar complaints are also there in AHL bike's if a enthusiast keeps that bike he will know them.
Simple solution dont buy a CG. Problem arises when the consumer does not want to divert from a company that does not give an F about consumer concerns or problems. Their bikes are selling in huge numbers why would they give an F to Khir khir or gir gir noise coming from 125.Only solution is move away from Honda 125 and start trying other brands like Yamaha or Hispeed. Change will not come if we dont want it ourselves.
Hassan bhai can I get your contact no. I live in fsd and want some info regarding my bike
whats the difference between drum bush vs rubber. All bykes have rubber to deliver power smoothly
