Converting My 1996 Suzuki Margalla1.3 (Carb) to All-Wheel Drive

Hi fellow automobile enthusiasts,

I hope you're all doing well. I’m reaching out to seek guidance and expert opinions on a project that’s very close to my heart.

I own a 1996 Suzuki Margalla 1.3 carburetor, a car I am deeply attached to as it belonged to my late father. This car has significant emotional value for me because my father passed away in it. I want to preserve and upgrade it by converting it to an all-wheel-drive setup.

I have some specific questions and would greatly appreciate your insights:

1. Complete Setup for Conversion
   What components will I need to complete this conversion? (e.g., engine, gearbox, driveshaft, rear axle, suspension, differential, etc.)
   Could you suggest any particular AWD setup (from Suzuki models or other compatible vehicles) that would fit most easily into the Margalla chassis?
2. Budget-Friendly Option
   Would it be more feasible to keep the existing 1.3 carburetor engine and focus on finding an AWD gearbox, driveshaft, and rear axle for the conversion?
   If yes, what models or parts would be compatible with this engine?
   Additional Thoughts
   I understand this is a challenging project, especially for a car of this vintage. However, I’m committed to making this work while maintaining a reasonable budget.

I’d be grateful for any advice, suggestions, or even warnings from those who have done similar projects. If you know of specific setups or parts that might suit my requirements, please do share.

There was an awd version of this car and also a subaru branded hatchback which was basically a cultus and was available in awd variant too.

You will need to find a whole front and rear chop of those cars as you will need to cut your cars rear floor and weld that awd version floor to mount the saddle type fuel tank and the rear subframe that will carry the rear differential.

You will also need to cut out the tunnel area and graft the awd type tunnel that will accomodate the driveshaft and the exhaust pipe.

The front also needs some work but its mostly just swapping the front frame carrier to awd type so the center diff (divider) can connect to the driveshaft. You will need the transaxle with the divider and the axles to go with it (that car used larger HD hubs and brakes)

It will be exactly how people convert lancers into evos but in your case its a swift, it wont be cheap or pocket freindly as the parts will be shock level expensive.
