I have recently bought Corolla 2D Diesel 2008 model in good condition, My friends and family gave 100% opposition claiming they were obsolete now. But I had my reasons as I have to travel long distances with at least 4-5 crew members for solar installations.
Pakwheels kept me motivated me for this decision but all post here were mostly decade or two old, thus I decided to start this thread to share my journey with 2D and get owner's feedback as well

I am from Lahore and bought it for 1.9 Million 3
2008 2.0D SE, 450,000 original reading. Non accidented but all panels painted, once overhauled, No smoke but blow by exists,

Done 4 full tanks , 12 km pure city drive, 14 KM mix, 16.5 KM/Litre pure highway, will be getting Engine pump tuned, hopefully average will improve

i like 2.0d dont know why. but i think diesel engines are like you put them in long journeys and those engines perform more well rather than petrol ones which get heated up with ac and stuff like that. whay do you say? and yea a much much needed fanclub thread

how's your experience so far? how's it on long journeys? any issues? does turning on ac in summers put load on its engine?

Done around 6.5 K KMs, Bit lost! First time owning a diesel and a 2nd hand car as well.
1. Got suspension work from highly rated suspension specialist, he destroyed it, spent 50 K, he's a 5 star ratings with more than 100 reviews on maps. Visited him thrice, he couldn't understand the issue. Z clamp is touching wishbone.
2. Got oil change from makki oil main branch, guy pulled diesel fuel line,pump took air and now it's starting with 8-10 seconds cranking.
3. Getting used to Diesel noise, but family not yet comfortable
4. Diesel pump doesnt have CSD, also AC on idle puts load on engine, pump ain't adjusting rpm for AC on idle
5. Purchased clutch plate from Al Futtaim, turned out to be fake clutch is still hard.
6. Toyota Authorized dealership filled GL5 Differential oil rather than gear oil, charged 15 K. All oil drained on clutch replacement 1 week later.

Currently spent around 150,000/- on maintenance and car has become worse. Seems like another 2.5-3 lakh needed to make it every day car

Still it's big improvement on last three cars, Alto, cultus 2002 and Wagon R, need some more time with vehicle and mechanics

well its just "pakistan hai" thing. Otherwise once you'd find a good mechanic i think you'd be more than happier.

Is it possible to reduce the noise of diesel engines?

Cabin noise from engine can be reduced
- Use high-quality engine mountings
- through butyl sheets, on floor,firewall and doors.
- check if steering cap is properly sealed from engine bay side
- Ensure all rubber caps are entact on firewall.
- Rattles in das oard windows or seats also contribute to noise due to vibrations

Major Engine noises are from Tappets,Fuel Pump and engine itself, all needed to be adjusted to reduce noise, also good engine also makes difference
