I am just starting to built my system, for prius 2011. I have decided to get focal KRX2 speakers and Alpine HU. Have to decide about Amp and a sub. Would like to get a 3 or 5 channel class AB Amp.
I am using an Alpine in my Corolla and to my ears it sounds much better than Pioneer (My prius has Pioneer Carrozzeria AVIC-ZH99).

the alpine u have is an aftermarket unit and the carrozeria comes oem in some japanese cars (not necessarily prius). hence the quality difference. if u have an alpine and if u have optical and Ai net output on the pre, i have an amp that accepts optical and Ai net and give 5 channel out with pre out for sub. it has built in dolby digital and dts. and its an alpine amp

I`m interested in looking at the speaker pods for the mids/tweets as they are very hard to fabricate so need ideas regarding that :S
