Hi,
Car: E-170 Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6 Automatic 4-speed transmission
I recently noticed a torn CV boot on the left side inner CV joint (passenger side) and ended up going to a mechanic for replacement of the boot. Upon inspection it turned out that that the CV joint cup had wear marks (indents) and I had to get it replaced. Some transmission fluid drained which my mechanic put back into the transmission (I asked for it to be topped up by new fluid, but he didn't)
On my way back from the mechanic everything was normal, however the next day I started noticing rough gear shifting and the RPM would increase upto 6-7K while shifting from 3rd to 4th gear at 60-70kmph and shifting with a slight jerk.
Troubleshooting:
To troubleshoot the issue and see if there's a pattern I tried limiting gears manually through the gear knob (D -> 3 ->2 ->1) and there's always a jerk when the car is shifting from 3rd to 4th at 60-70kmph. If I drive in a smooth manner I.e. low acceleration there's no jerking but the rpm issue persists (3rd to 4th gear), however if I accelerate rapidly, there's a jerk in almost all gears when shifting.
Can someone please guide as to what might the issue be? I'd rather do preventive maintenance than end up replacing the complete transmission.
Transmission fluid is at the required level, doesn't smell burnt, has a slightly black shade (used to be pink before the fluid was re-added)
Thanks!
