Corolla SE Saloon 1.6 braking issue

If you read around, the shape of your corolla, due to its bulbous profile has its center of gravity around the rear seat regions. So when you brake (Specially hard), the car feels a lift from the rear, which decreases traction with the road. And as the car is FWD it often keeps going in its exiting motion, resulting in hitting the car in the front or more commonly sliding.

So it has got nothing to do with the brake technology, just with the profile of the car

yaar i have a 2005 S.E saloon what i did for better braking is i put 15 alloys along with 205/65/15 Yokohama and my corolla doesn't have that bad braking issue anymore... i bought it brand new and on the very first day before even bringing it to home i put Yokohama C drive 195/65/15 they did not get the job done so after 40,000 Kms i changed them and put those 205 which i am still using they did a fantastic job for me ... and if you put those stiff springs it will ruin the driving pleasure of the car ... when you drive your car alone (with only 2 person max) it will make noise from rear as if somethings wrong with the suspension ....

No need to change anything I have a se saloon too and the brakes are good if you use them right most drivers just step on the brakes hard when stopping.What I do is downshift first and then step on the brakes encase of emergency step on the brake hard when wheel lock is detected release it quick and step on it hard again as soon as possible.The car wont slip.If this method is to hard for you get an ABS.

I know how to brake sir, I can stop Nissan Patrols quicker than this thing.

That is what I want to reduce, the brake technology is good enough. Just the rear of the car lifts too high under braking due to bad suspension setup.

i searched. i think proper term is brake distribution block

check with user skullbox .......he got it changed in his xli. makes alot of difference.

lowering ur car........uncomrfortable + lahore speed brakers will kill ur car in few days(specially if it is a family car)

He got the brake distribution block from a corolla X?

And uh, I don't exactly want to lower my car, what I mean't was to use stiffer springs, same ride height.

And I want a contact of a shop or a person who has those springs here in Lahore.

Sir why do not you simply buy an Altis or late 2006 2.0D Saloon with ABS or new GLI, that will be much better for braking.

It can be really dangerous to alter the stock suspensions and/or brake mechanism.

If you want the best braking, Vitz/X Corolla and Eagle Eye VTI are best.

Alternatively, you can change the tires to Bridgestone Adrenaline RE001 or Dunlop SP Sports 9000, 205/50 R15.

Already have 195 dunlop SP sport tyres all round.

I know that Vitz/civic have best braking.

If I could change the car altogether, it would have been done quite some time ago.

I wouldn't want to go that stiff. Just slightly stiffer than the stockers.

Go to Bilal Gunj and get springs from there, you will get good springs after spending a good hour in the market. There is one guy named Aftab. His shop is right after the parking on the left side (I think the third shop after the parking ends). He has good stiffer springs but the issue of noise will definitely arise if there is packing put along with those springs. Otherwise, no issues. Tell aftab that the guy having black VTi who got his springs changed, has sent you (that is I of course).

because even after replacing all the four corners, it would still be the same since its not the problem with the discs / rotors or pads. Its problem with the braking proportion and soft suspension.

they change the brake distribution T with a kabli one of japanese corolla. like corolla X.

technically it means brake fluid going to the rear discs of ur stock car is insufficient for proper braking!

Not every new corolla would have a malfunctioning proportioning valve, would it?
