The leak near the thermostat is very easy to fix, pop off intake manifold (15 minutes max), then drain the system into clean tub,
Unbolt the thermostat and replace the seal on it, its available as spare part. Also make sure the actual thermostat is there, if missing. Install it back.
The metal flange on top (heater bypass) has an O ring there, replace that too, takes another 5 to 10 minutes.
Pack it up.
If your block is actually corroded where the thermostat elbow bolts on, then God help you because the entire engine will be trashed internally too.
