Yes, that speedodrive has a different ratio compared to export model
Swapped a 1nzfe automatic from diesel 2.0d in Toyota 2006. All the Japanese auto gear boxes don't have speedo meter gear, so that bearing on top is removed and this gear is available with gear guys they sell you that for 4-4.5k and then you buy a vss. Only by this you can get speed on cluster cuz these systems take speed input from abs.
He also installed the gear when the engine was first swapped but for some reason the speed reading was incorrect. Like when speedometer shows 120kmph actual speed through gps is 80 kmph. Difference in speed increase with higher speed. That's why he said we need a different part then the japsnese
@dani_kk do you ever face this issue?
This happens when the speedo drive motor and faceplate are mismatched.
Notice the number printing placement on the speedometer of 180 kmh faceplate and the 220 kmh one
You will understand my point
I understand that the speedometer will display wrong but the ecu reading of the speed should be correct but it isn't
yes - if your ecu is reading wrong then you have a wrong helical gear/vss combo
That is done once its opened. We did match everything accordingly, so we aren't facing this issue as hassan you're facing.
Mechanic having trouble finding matching vss drive gear
Update:
Speed issue is resolved and now transmission is shifting properly.
Few days ago I got this oil poured in my swapped engine. I think I will stick to it in future. The oil cost me 3500 rupees and filter was around 400 rupees.
Great review and glad that your issues are fixed. I wanted to ask about your overall experience after fixing these issues? And what is the fuel average that you are getting now?
The speed and shifting is correct but don't know why mileage is still low. Like I am geting max 7 km/l
Can anyone tell me its normal to hear a whining noise in first gear only? like the transmission ''ro rahi ho''? And as soon as gear shifts its gone. Trans: U340E
@Hassan1991@xulfiqar @capsat@xenerking
its not normal but it is quite a common failure in U340E transmission after about 150,000 kms - you need a new planetary carrier for the center to fix it. Toyota want your arm plus leg plus firstborn child to sell you that part.
Will it start causing any driveability issues or only this sound will be there?
It wont cause drive issues, just the stupid noise will be there in first gear.
I still got bad fuel average. Only max 8 km/l in city without AC. Calculated average many times and 8 is the best I can get out of this engine. Very Disappointed. Power and Performance is good. 1NZ is also gulping petrol which it should not.
Have you checked its valve clearances? Or checked its exhaust on an EG analyiser?
Are you using a very heavy engine oil in it? Are the brakes correctly serviced and not dragging?
I don't think it has valve clearance as I think it has hydraulic lifters. Haven't find anyone who can check exhaust with EG analyser in Karachi. In neutral, the car does roll back so thic concludes that brakes are not dragging.I am using 5W30 fully synthetic.
